Beatles, The - Honey Pie Lyrics
She was a working girl
North of England way
Now she's hit the big time
In the USA
And if she could only hear me
Honey pie you are making me crazy
I'm in love but I'm lazy
So won't you please come home
Oh honey pie my position is tragic
Come and show me the magic
Of your Hollywood song
You became a legend of the silver screen
Makes me weak in the knee
Oh honey pie you are driving me frantic
Sail across the Atlantic
To be where you belong
Honey pie come back to me, oh
Yeah
I like it like that, oh ah
I like this kind of hot kind of music
Hot kind of music
Play it to me, play it to me, honey, the blues
Will the wind that blew her boat
Across the sea
Kindly send her sailing back to me
Honey pie you are making me crazy
I'm in love but I'm lazy
So won't you please come home
Come, come back to me, honey pie
Oooooooooooh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Honey pie, honey pie

Getting real spongebob vibes
When you realise honey pie is longer than “for no one”
paul McCartney please i love youR SONGS PLEASE MAKE MORE SONGS I LOVE YOUR SONGS.
Every now and then, Paul's dad's influence would come through in his music. Jim Mac's Jazz Band.
My favorite song on the album.
You're Paul McCartney, of course she'll say yes.
yeeaahhh Paul 👌👌
i have a new love for this song :)
on speed x1.25 sounds good
Lowkey this song is really cute and wholesome.
What kind of music is this? I like it
Vaudeville Jazz
This is one of multiple songs that I think was inspired by the 20’s jazz style music, Paul’s dad performed in his band.
2019 anyone?? ❤❤
this granny shit bumping hard my neguses
Honey Pie, your'e not safe here....
At least this song ain’t wild if you catch my drift
Twee...l actually hate this sentimental nonsense...
NOW SHE'S HIT THE BIG TIME, IN THE USA!
In the song Masacre en el puticlub the Indio Solario did the same sound
I just know this melody but I didn't know it was Paul McCartney... Well I should've known
This song is incredibly sweet I love it
Lennon called this song “Beyond Redemption” I don’t know why he hated it so much, but I like it
The question is rather why did he put up with having schmaltzy retro stuff like this on the albums.
I love how the chord progression of this song is a cycle of secondary dominants.
now THIS is granny music
I wanna know who played that jazzy guitar part..I say John
15102019MOET et CHANDON
Paul’s one of the very few male singers with a falsetto I can stand
AMAZING 😆😆😆😆😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☺️☺️☺️☺️😊😊😊😌😌😌😙😜😗😝😛😜😎😎😎🤥
Tengo 56, y por esos tiempos abría el mueble que escondía la bandeja Garrard de mis padres y ponía The Beatles. Que felicidad y lindos recuerdos! Este era uno de esos discos. Love it!
I'm a defender of Paul but Honey Pie's a step too far - I can see why John and George called it granny music. It's almost unreconstructed Edwardian.
Well... that's what is supposed to be, man.
But it's not what The Beatles were supposed to be, not as a track on a major album. Honey Pie should have been just a song on a soundtrack album. When I'm 64 was fine on Pepper because it fit the themes of the album - childhood, meeting a girl, moving out, getting older etc. Martha my Dear suits The White Album well because it breaks out of a conventional structure. Your Mother Should Know suits Magical Mystery Tour as it's not hard to imagine a mother accompanying their child in an old time singalong on a magical mystery tour anyway (even though that's not how the song's presented). I know The White Album is, to some extent, three Beatles solo interests put in to one album but Honey Pie is so jarringly so that it gives credence to the idea that it was really McCartney who unintentionally broke up the Beatles by cause of the music that he was creating that was anti the other Beatles. Even in Pepper, his own concept, John contributes more songs that fit the idea of it being different voices from the Beatles. McCartney goes off down the 'northern songs' route and, to this day, people convincingly point out that the concept is muddled. They'd have been better describing it as a 'day in the life' of various individuals - e.g. Lucy, Mr Kite, the 'I'm' in When I'm 64, the 'She' in She's Leaving Home, the people in A Day in the Life.
Among the cheesiest tracks the Beatles ever recorded and maybe the worst on the White Album, although Ringo's contribution might keep it from that honor.
Best? Have you never heard the White Album? Paul has some great songs on the record. "Honey Pie" is not one of them.
Scott French I wasn’t saying it was the best I just thought it was a good song and not bad. There are obviously better
@Callum DCamp YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scott French: “Worst on the White Album”.
Me: What a ignorant statement.
*Wild Honey Pie is the worst on this album.*
@Eli I'd rather listen to that one 3x then once to this tame corny pie. There are five I don't care for on the White Album, four are by McCartney.
At 0:32 after paul says "this what ill say" I'd exit out of the video and click on wild honey pie so he goes "this is what ill say.........HONEY PIIIEEEEEE HONEY PIIIEEEE"
Paul on The White Album: Why Don't We Do It In The Road?
Also Paul on The White Album:
reminds me ''lazing on a sunday afternoon'' from queen
it was from the kinks
"lazing" not "sunny"
nice song btw
ey abel bedankt voor de taarten gozer
and then there’s wild honey pie where paul is just drunk
Easilest, the worst Beatles song. Thanks, Paul,
one of the most underrated songs
Well here is honey pie. Now listen to wild honey pie it’s way better
beatles: i like it like that, ooh
billie eilish: aaah, like it like that, like it like thaat.
That’s John doing the brief guitar solo
I just love me some honey pie
Lennon with the guitar solo!
Mi rola favorita de este álbum :'3
Has Paul ever performed this live? I really wish he would. It's one of my favorite tracks off The White Album.
From the same album that brought you Revolution #9 folks!
Janet Wilhelm and helter skelter
Whenever I listen to this song, I think "oh, Rev. 9 is each time closer and closer", and it gives me goosebumps.
Amazed to learn John played that nifty guitar break. Except for George's lead in "Till There Was You," as close to jazz as they ever came.
how it feels when you have the girl you like in the school play and you never see her anymore :(
:)
love the beatles
I see no comments appreciating the lovely, but short guitar solo supplied by John, which almost sounds like a clarinet. If indeed he hated the song, he clearly gave of his best in the recording.
Wait I always thought this was a Lennon song, i didnt know McCartney wrote this
My love just sang/played this song to me on the phone. I love and know the Beatles, but I totally don't remember this. What a delight, in several ways, to have him play this for me.
Super granny Paul in the Great Depression.

Honey pie, you are making me crazy
I'm in love but I'm lazy
So won't you please come home.
Oh honey pie, my position is tragic
Come and show me the magic
Of your Hollywood song.
You became a legend of the silver screen
And now the thought of meeting you
Makes me weak in the knee.
Oh honey pie, you are driving me frantic
Sail across the Atlantic
To be where you belong.
Will the wind that blew her boat
Across the sea
Kindly send her sailing back to me.

I'm in love but I'm lazy
So won't you please come home.

Some critics called this and 'When I'm 64' "Regrettable McCartney 'Vaudville.'"
McCartney is a songster who is more interested in song-tunes than in following some radical music agenda. He can't resist or redirect his inspiration.... so you get this in the middle of the White Album. More power to him.
White Album is the best Beatles album imo.
Adoro esta canción...🌷
Con una introducción realizada en ''Fritangas Records.''
I was expecting something like wild honey pie and I'm severely disappointed
Can hear Rudy Valley singing this through a megaphone In 1920’s. Fun stuff .
i prefer wild honey pie
I can't think of many songs where they personally stop to tell you that they like the genre they're playing, haha.

No offense, but this is my favorite Beatles song
What do you mean "no offense?" Every Beatles song is my favorite (except for Revolution 9 and Wild Honey Pie)
@Jnet Egiziaco https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BD5TA0FVNf0
how is that offensive?
Now she's hit the big time in the 2019
Underrated song
Honey pie show me the magic if your Hollywood song.
Makes me weak in the knees. Would the boat that sailed
her 'cross the sea kindly send her sailin' back to me?
Position is tragic. Silver screen.Hollywood. Who, me?
Did I ever care? My knees start to wobble then my mind starts
to bobble and there's no cure but stonehenge.
A throwback to the days of Eddie Cantor. The Beatles' influences spanned far and wide. So Great!

I love how Paul briefly turned into 1920's jazz, subsequently inspiring Queen to do the same later on in a few tracks, too.
@fancyhatfactory I mean, like anything made by the beatles, it never quite fits in one single category but it's mostly a ragtime song, though that's just my personal opinion
@Argie Fag Thanks for your opinion! I think I don't know enough about different genres from different decades, but I'll keep on learning.
@Argie Fag Doesn't sound like Ragtime to me, more like a musical number of the 1920s and 1930s, like something out of a Fred Astaire film. The Drums in the middle of the song give it away for me. The Ragtime era didn't have that kind of drumming. Saxophones and Winds also remind of Guy Lombardo's work, so that also feeds into it.
Killer queen
@Argie Fag it bears a strong resemblance melodically, rhythmically, and harmonically, but the arrangement is not jazz at all.
Paul being silly and isn’t it great?
Interesting
Very Fred Astaire/ Rudy Vallee. John hated it, but in many ways Lennon needed to broaden his horizons. Besides, the 1920's were considered chic again by many in the hippie/ baby- Boomer community at that time. ( Remember, "Tiny Tim", a huge celebrity in the late 60's.)
Yes, I can hear the Fred Astaire and Rudy Vallee influences. The drums as well sound very 1920s and 1930s, with the Winds between lines reminding me of Guy Lombardo. Also the song in general sounds a lot like the 1925 standard "Dinah".
hey doctor, Lennon did broaden his horizons. John played the gypsy guitar bit on honey pie. He also played the lively piano intro on ob-la-di,ob-la-da.
Thank you Sir George Martin..
Honey Pies time, the 20ies ,were a decade nearer to the 60ies than the 60ies to 2019
0:36 that little guitar pick gives me chills (in a good way)
From the same album that contained “Happiness Is A Warm Gun”. HA!
Paul doing Cole Porter
How could I ever reject 40's Jazz?
bloody awesome song.
reminds me a lot of the song "dinah"
True genius...like it was taken from the late '20's or early '30's.
Granny shit
Going from “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road” a song that’s lyrics is entirely saying “want to have sex in public” to this on the same album
I'm not convinced the original McCartney didn't die in 1966. One extensive site lays out the comparison of Paul and possible replacement Billy Shears. I found it believable in picture facial differences.
Omg STOP this Faul bullshit.
He's not dead.
Faul, billy, William... I think paul is paul
You do know that Billy Shears is a made-up character right?
That's like saying you're certain the Wizard of Oz took over as an impostor because you've seen pics of how the wizard 'really looked.'
El mejor music Hall de Mac
The beatles I she Good morning
Que buenísima música los Beatles el mejor grupo de todos los tiempos estoy orgulloso de haber vivido esa epoca
I love these 50s sounding songs Paul does lol. I love Suicide, Call me back again, Give me a Ring. He was so good writing these songs lol

i may be the only one but I LOVE Wild Honey Pie lol. It's such a cool and wacky song.
Wild honey pie is a kick ass song!
Why do I keep seeing these Paul is dead rehashed stories? I can't say if there is any truth to this.
sure you can--he made 20 more albums and fathered several children. :)
This album is essentially two solo albums, plus George’s stuff.
After that I need some cream tangerine
Thank you! I was thinking about this song, and I can listen to it.
