Beatles, The - Chains Lyrics

Chains, my baby's got me locked up in chains
And they ain't the kind that you can see
Whoa, oh, these chains of love got a hold on me, yeah

Chains, well I can't break away from these chains
Can't run around, cos I'm not free
Whoa, oh, these chains of love won't let me be, yeah

I wanna tell you, pretty baby
I think you're fine
I'd like to love you
But, darling, I'm imprisoned by these...

Chains, my baby's got me locked up in chains
And they ain't the kind that you can see
Oh, oh, these chains of love got a hold on me

Please believe me when I tell you
Your lips are sweet
I'd like to kiss them
But I can't break away from all of these...

Chains, my baby's got me locked up in chains
And they ain't the kind that you can see
Whoa, oh, these chains of love got a hold on me, yeah

Chains, chains of love...

  18. H.... G....

Great song, so early, too. Thanks.

  19. A.... H....

Has anyone else noticed the echo on the left channel? I first noticed this when I originally bought the record in 1964. Also if you play the record, on the intro groove you can hear the faint start of the actual track. this is due to the vinyl still being hot from the cutting needle and they had to get 6 tracks each side so the grooves were very close together.
Actually you can ask someone how many grooves are there on a 45, and how many on a 33 LP. The answer is two: one on each side.

  20. M.... S....

I had one earbud in and heard whispers of voices. I then realised that I should be using 2 earbuds😂

I just keep thinking of these chains that got a hold on me.

  28. G.... h....

Please please me, Anna, if you are not locked in chains. I saw her standing there in misery with boys so I asked her "Do you want to know a secret?" She said "why yes of course." I replied "there's a place where I twist and shout. Ask me why." "Why." She asked."baby it's you" I stammered and I ran out of the building but I turned shouted "P.S I love you so love me do."

    J.... C....

@José Candal yup. Her husband. He actually wrote the words. He also wrote words to Natural Woman which is amazing.

    J.... C....

@Jimmy McPeters sure! they were a prolific and talented husband and wife songwriting team throughout the 1960s, writing many hits and songs that have since become pop standards.

  37. J.... A....

It was that harmony that sucked me in when they first came out. Just four talented guys that could harmonize together on great songs. What a band.

At 1:28 you'll here what sounds like John or George growl or make some sort of noise like an arggghh, maybe a bad note or someone wasn't happy.

    C.... J....

Channeling John Bonham or they were being weird 😂

  40. L.... G....

En lo personal es una de mis canciones favoritas :)

  41. N.... M....

I had a four-album set of Beatles' music with the Greek letters Alpha and Omega. Anyone have this set?

  42. J.... ....

Some weird distortion on this from 1:02 to 1:10 that is not on the mono version.

  43. J.... W....

Amazing reverb on the other channel from the one George is singing on.

  44. B.... ....

    Woo-hoo!!👍😆

  54. S.... S....

  55. A.... G....

This song is way better than todays music, todays music is garbage
    Beatles forever!

    A.... G....

I totally agree! Please god give us back John and George and we give you Justin and Ariana!

    A.... G....

@Alisa Oletič No. I'd lock them up, and release the Beatles all over again.

    A.... G....

@Alisa Oletič lmao I use to have that profile picture

  56. A.... t....

    *Insert BDSM joke here*

  57. J.... H....

Did Carole King and Gerry Goffin really write this? The Cookies first sang this.

    J.... H....

It is funny, because Carole King sings such different kind of music

    J.... H....

Carole had a knack for writing pop songs at an early age. Actually one of the best in the business. But yeah, as a kid I just remember her from her Tapestry album and thought she was more a 70's star.

  58. L.... G....

Ive been going through a rough patch in my life for the past 9 months and music is the one thing that makes me feel like its all going to be ok.

    L.... G....

Lucas Gill hope you start feeling better. Beatles music is just on a different level of music

  59. J.... H....

When George sings, you need to stop what your doing.

    J.... H....

    Bhuyatax Lima yeah

    J.... H....

    I agree

  60. D.... k....

Excellent cover of the (cookies ???) Classic I remember it from the old Beatles cartoon-series that used to come on Saturday mornings back in the 60's.

  61. M.... O....

    Love to hear George

  62. L.... R....

If you like this remastered version, you would have LOVED the original on vinyl. Not sure who thought these masterpieces needed anything and, yes, I know George Martin was the engineer on this. He apparently lost much of his hearing.

  63. J.... G....

    George Harrison: Vocals, Lead Guitar.
John Lennon: Backing Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Harmonica.
    Paul McCartney: Backing Vocals, Bass.
    Ringo Starr: Drums.

    J.... G....

Poor Ringo no vacals for him

    J.... G....

Such a great description of this good song. Thanks. 🙂

    😀😀😀

  67. D.... ....

I love this song and we all miss George

  68. J.... G....

Love this song and a fantastic voice George has. You can hear his distinctive guitar style. The best and most talented musician in the Beatles.

    J.... G....

    Andy Konrad I agree haha

    J.... G....

Paul was definitely the most talented musician in the group

    J.... G....

@Dyslexic Batnam John was just as good and he was a superior songwriter.

    J.... G....

@Margaret I'm not talking about songwriting I'm talking about instrument playing. Paul could play like 40 instruments and was just overall better than John.

    J.... G....

@Margaret Paul was a better musician, and song writer. Bob Dylan, regarded as the greatest songwriter of all time, said paul was better than john and himself.

  69. M.... O....

This is a good song, but is the worst song of this album.

  70. M.... L....

    p.... p....

That's the red / blue album. It was a compilation, not a studio album, released by their manager Allen Klein at the time

  73. A.... S....

The Beatles had so many phases can’t believe these are the same people who made the white album

    A.... S....

    U, Me, and Katie B
Paul never really addressed the question if he is not really Paul. Now if I put myself in Paul shoes I can see how I wouldn’t want to address something so stupid. But this is what actually happened Paul was in an accident he didn’t get hurt he did go to the hospital. There were rumors going around that Paul had died. And then he was replaced. This is right around the time where John Lennon made that famous and remark that the Beatles are bigger than Jesus Christ. Which I regard as one of the most famous statements by a rock group ever. At that time people start a burning Beatles albums beetle sales were dropping. They put clues about that into their songs and on their album covers and then when someone finally figured it out what these things were the conspiracy ran wild. People we’re playing their records backwards wearing them out having to buy multiple records. Which in turn skyrocketed the beetle sales. It was actually quite genius I’ve said it before the Beatles are the greatest marketing band ever. No one marketed their albums themselves their music greater than the Beatles did I give them a ton of credit. Yes I agree their first couple of songs were geared toward the teenyboppers. You got to start off somewhere. Their songs and their album started to change around 6768 when Paul McCartney did not want to tour anymore. No I do not think that Paul McCartney is dead and this one here is a fake Paul McCartney. I love to cause trouble stir the pot get people thinking a little bit and start debating. And I do not like the majority of the Beatles music. I personally do not think they are very good when it comes to songs and music, but that is my personal taste I love classical music as well can’t get enough of it it’s just amazing that they can get so much emotion out of the instruments all into sink all playing together in time and instep it’s mine boggling.

    A.... S....

@Alexander Stewart Ya know man, I just assumed you were an idiot from your terrible and mindless critique of the beatle's music, but when you said that paul died you proved it. Take you idiot conspiracy theories elsewhere you gullible fool.

    A.... S....

    @Alexander Stewart ugh.

    A.... S....

@Alexander Stewart The Beatles appealed to many people, not just teenage girls. Maybe if you were around back then , you would have noticed. Also , Hendrix covered Cream and Dylan, he liked to play songs that he liked, maybe you are reading too much into his covers.

    A.... S....

Der Kommissar I agree.. it’s pop music.. that’s more appealing then hard rock.. if one listens to the music from 62-66.. it’s clear that the Beatles are by far the better group... their different.. more up best..! There personable.. funny.. and they took over that time period.. they perfected there craft in Germany.. And when Brian found them.. he knew what he found and marketed them as polished lads.
With that said.. I’m not a fan of their music at all..! But.. I recognize their greatness from a historical standpoint.
As soon as Hendrix came on the scene. The musician landscape was changed forever. Then zeppelin.. and that was it. The Beatles albums continued to sell.. which goes to their greatness.

Try not to be sad ...think about how wonderfully lucky we are to have had them for the short time that we did. Should have been for longer ...but at least we HAD them

I don't like this modern tinny "remastered" stuff, I was a teen in the 1960's when we had the real deal..:)

    T.... K....

    Ya'll mean 'Reel' deal..?

    T.... K....

Tinny? These are a massive improvement in bass clarity compared to the 80s transfers.

    T.... K....

It's sacrilege to mess around with the originals, a bit like somebody deciding to "remaster" Da Vinci's Mona Lisa by adding touches of new colour...:)
