Bauhaus - Too Much 21st Century Lyrics

There outta be
Something better

A better singer
A better actor
Better job

Better money
Better get her
Better lover
Better not

Too much luck
Too much conceit
Give me one religion
It's too much

Too much
Passing information

Too much selfish
Too much fake
Too much computer
Too much to take
It's too much

Too much effort
Too much, kid
Too much control
Control
It's too much

Bet you want to
Be something better
A better singer
A better actor
Better job

Better money
Better got her
Better love her
Better not

Ready?
A better human

It's too much
It's too much
Oh, yeah

Bauhaus Too Much 21st Century Comments
  1. G.... Z....

Peter Murphy is a boomer confirmed

  2. D.... G....

Still great in 2028! [ok, 'tis only 2019, but that didn't rhyme. But it still will be; I predict.]

  3. N.... e....

The guitar tone sounds like Dream Syndicate !!! Nice tune !!! Bauhaus , my teenage days !!!

  4. s.... d....

    pm always! f*cking awesome!

  5. J.... W....

    Totally underrated...groovy tune!!

  6. P.... M....

You're right my Bauhaus boys we need LESS fucking "21st Century" and MORE of the "20th" circa 1980's!!!...***National Retro Day February 27th 2018***

  7. T.... M....

Too much head movement when I listen to this at the office.

  8. S.... A....

    τελειο

  9. M.... ....

    Go on witcha bad self.

  10. J.... S....

And...this song goes out to everyone!

  11. O.... M....

Am I the only person who has discover this in 2017? I feel like I've been roaming around the world without the bso of my life.

    O.... M....

Same here... Better late than never, anyways.

    O.... M....

To much bullshit around, that gems do disapear to void of internet

  12. O.... C....

    TOO MUCH GUITAR

  13. m.... r....

    too much proibition

  14. B.... S....

    soooooooooo psychedelic !

  15. J.... F....

the opening sounds like David Holme's  Ocean's 11 score.

    J.... F....

Lol. I was about to say something like that in the sense that the beat sounds like a 60's song.  Groovy.

    J.... F....

It's actually the Ocean's Twelve soundtrack, Yen On A Carousel.

    J.... F....

Thank you. I searched for it.

  16. A.... ....

Probably best track of the album. Sadly this album is a miss, just sounds undedicated.

  17. A.... D....

5 years later and this is STILL one of my favorite albums of the last 15-20 years and top 10 song. Really wish they had not gotten into another spat and canceled the shows they were planning. I think Murphy is the culprit, sadly. he does have an inglorious ego.

  18. A.... D....

More like the Bass riff from Taxman... almost identical...

  19. D.... B....

When you say British Clash are you referring to "The Clash"???? As in Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, etc.????? One of the experimental bands of the 70s and 80s. That really did tear some shit up in the process. Joy Division which developed into New Order, Oh God, IGGY!!!! He has and always will be one of the special ones as punk, rock, Motor City Madness, and all that shit He is the one still kicking it.

  20. D.... B....

No shit!!! My daughter and I saw him and his band perform here in Bakersfield back in August, and he still has it all in tact!!! Too short of a show but damned good one!!! :)>

  21. S.... ....

I know what you mean...Though I was thinking more in the lines of Taxman.

  22. M.... ....

    Not bad!

  23. I.... ....

    Sounds awesome live.

  24. P.... M....

this album sounds great, LOVE this song

  25. K.... ....

The bass part sounds like it came from the Beatles song Rain. I like how they would put different genres together like pieces of a puzzle.

    K.... ....

    Taxman, I think.

  26. m.... ....

Shame they couldn't get over their artistic differences and take this album on tour, some great new songs mixed in with their older material would have been fantastic. I am able to go to meet my maker happy with the knowledge that I eventually got to see them live.

  27. G.... H....

    One of my favorite 2000's album....great combination of L.A.R. and Bauhaus.I hope they change their mind and do one more CD...just one more:{

    G.... H....

    well... guess what!

  28. A.... D....

This was such a great album (comeback or not). It is just a shame their orneriness exploded again and they broke up before making videos or taking it on tour.

  29. A.... D....

    @poesiapop

I was thinking "Taxman"... but a Beatle Bass riff, for sure.

  30. J.... B....

Its the shit........It has Bowie, T-Rex and Celtic Frost.......oh, and Bauhaus, who also did Iggy and never mind Joy-Division and British Clash, in general, and late 70/80's, never mind Punk being that age, but i add that as an under-theme. I am the best musical historian eva'. yeah?

  31. D.... T....

This tune reminds me Ocean's movie..:D Love Bauhaus! Peace

  32. c.... ....

While Bauhaus and Cure have similar influences, I always saw Bauhaus as true Gothic Punk, and Cure as more Gothic Pop. They are certainly lighter and fluffier. Both bands are good, and have their own merits.

  33. M.... ....

@doublexdare94 The dog's a vapour is the best track on the album. It's Bauhaus at their inimitable best.

  34. J.... d....

What is there to complain about? This is Bauhaus through and through.

  35. g.... b....

I hate to say it because I love Bauhaus but this is pretty bad. It just limps along. No edge.

  36. A.... C....

well that's obvious why does everyone throw these bands into goth they're very differen't

  37. m.... ....

nothing, except this isn't the cure...not even cloe

  38. A.... C....

whats wrong with the cure :(

  39. A.... C....

    robert smith?

  40. C.... ....

I don't think so I mean this album is just a little over a year old so definetely no tours since it's release. I think that maybe when I'm old enough to be working a dead end job they'll do a reunion tour that won't come through my area lol

  41. 2.... ....

A band is best appreciated when they are gone. That's when they enter their "MYTH" stage. Why the hell do you see fourteen year olds wearing Ramones, and Led Zepplin t-shirts. That is when appreciating them becomes "Crystaline" and infamous.
    Besides Bauhaus isn't done yet.

    2.... ....

    240ups Sure?

  42. A.... M....

I thought they've got back together a few times?

  43. g.... p....

Sounds a bit like a re-tuned "Kick in the eye".What do you think?I like it!

  44. c.... ....

Apparently a disagreement. Usual thing. Murphy went of to his spiritual retreat place in a huff, apparently. They barely managed to finish the album first. Shame, I thought the convsersation on it sounded as if they were fairly upbeat and together - "This IS the solo!"

  45. M.... 6....

Anybody out there know what the hell happened to make these guys cancel the tour to this album? I heard there was an "incident" which caused the guys to not want to continue as a unit. WHAT INCIDENT?

  46. s.... ....

The Godfathers of Goth have done it again! Well done guys. Love em till the day they die..and I hope that won't be years to come..:)

  47. P.... ....

    ROCK ON!!!

  48. t.... ....

    Bauhaus will stay forever....
    ....undead,undead,undead.....

  49. K.... ....

Holy Shit! A new Bauhaus album? O_o I think I'm having heart failure! (Okay, too much Drama Queen...sorry :P) Thanks for sharing this.
    MeOw!

  50. o.... ....

They wouldn`t cut an experimental album, with no tour dates or video to support it in the states that coincide with it`s release and call it quits. They still haven`t released a video. I`m glad they created some new. They left me hanging for more. Not good marketing but it gives me hope. As pros, I do expect them to tour in the states and do a goodbye at the very least.

  51. J.... ....

they have surpassed bela w Zikir...listen to this track as an intro to the album w endless as the 2nd track instead of as the 5th song...Bauhaus has alway been wise in choosing track sequences, except on this cd....if you move those tracks as stated then it is well deserved to call this their swan song...and again w much debate even surpassing bela

  52. V.... ....

I actually didn't expect too much because usually when a band gets back together it's missing something, but I think it's just the opposite. I love this album. Endless Summer of the Damned totally rocks and Dog's a Vapour is just sublime!

  53. A.... O....

I just bought Go Away White today and It rocked my socks off. Dammit that was my last pair...

  54. M.... M....

That's what I've come to the conclusion of as well However, It's not a complaint!@ since I've loved Peter Murphy all this time and liked L&R...!

  55. s.... ....

I like it hey its new and ONLY Bauhaus album they making so yeah I'm enjoying it *having a beer while its playing* for our guys~~!!!

  56. F.... M....

This single sounds raw and unpolished.

Think about it like this, the song "Boys" from 1978(Gawdamn..) on the flip side of Bela was quite like this.

Free form with a touch of T-Rex meets Thin Lizzie.

I say listen and give them a chance.

  57. G.... D....

I think the whole album's great! Its classic music for listening to walking down the street or in the background while you're cooking or something... I love the last track Vapour..

  58. M.... L....

Don't judge a day for the first rainy hours. This album kick rocks, I D-Jayed em when Burning from the Innside was released in 83. It's really
daring and spetacular. Highly recommandable to any new and old listener. My fav. on this was
'Saved', lyricks remind me of a crossover between Bowie and the acclaimed album The Drift by the legendary Scott Walker. Welcome back Peter and his friends, but for god sake stage A TOUR!!! you're wanted outside the cyberspace..cheers anyway, thanks for record

  59. T.... N....

Sounds like a cross between Love and Rockets and Murphy's solo stuff so far. Not bad, but not amazing. Maybe it'll grow on me.

  60. P.... ....

The sound is not like old Bauhaus but Love & Rockets with Murphy in the voice.

    Is not bad, it`s different...

The best part of the album are the second part. Really Bauhaus songs
