I think I read that he did 39 vocal overdubs to make this. Got this album in 1979. My favorite song from it is Ships. That may be my all time favorite Barry Manilow song. Thank you for sharing.

This original version is much better than that whole list of "digitally remastered 1998" stuff here on you tube. This is a simple, heartfelt song that doesn't need more arranging, more loudness, etc. This is lovely, just the way it was originally done.

Love Barry Manilow even if I haven't listened to tape or CD in a long time. Been a fan since "Mandy". One Voice has always been a favorite. Great voice and great the way he puts the music out there, something for almost everyone. Keep the music coming, Barry !

I 've been a fan of Barry's for 43 years !!! He's an Awesome singer !!!!

I"m fairly surprised that the Muppets haven't done this one. The beginning makes me think of Robin, Kermit's tiny nephew, singing alone at the front of the stage, with his own little microphone. He's got stage-fright like you wouldn't believe, but he's determined to power through it.

My marching band is playing this song for their field show

So did we in my sophomore year. It was our opening but not contest show.

Our madrigal group sang this inside the chapel at Thanksgiving Square in downtown Dallas, back in 1980. (Thanksgiving Square was where the prayer service was held for the fallen police officers this past week.)

I love this man! And this song is such an inspirational song. I'd give anything to meet him. He's been my go-to since elementary school.
