Ella is the best this comes in at a close 2nd.
Baez is something of an enigma to me. I never understood why such a sensational voice was forever singing material that didn't fully display all its charms. Maybe I was wrong. Maybe those lovely old folk songs from the early days were perfect for it. One of the purest, most perfect voices I have ever heard. This wonderful song doesn't seem to bring out the best in it but it is great to hear her sing something out of her usual wheelhouse for a change.

In fact Julie didn't have a voice to talk of. It is said that you couldn't hear her even a few feet away. Unlike, Joan who had a voice that could knock your hat off.

Baez is doing a very nice job on this jazz ballad though she isn't a jazz singer, but please don't compare Joan Baez to this uncomparable jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald, it has nothing to do with what Baez can do on this song.

Julie London and Ella Fitzgerald remain the best in this song. This is a honest interpretation.
Love Julie London but this is wonderfully sung by Joan. If you like this try Joan's recording of Leonard Cohen's "Famous Blue Raincoat" It's on the Baptism album. Fabulous!
