Atlanta Rhythm Section - Indigo Passion Lyrics

Life is a colorful thing, life is a colorful thing
From rainbows to rain and all of the hills in between

Indigo passion and chartreuse motels
Blue mornings after, feelin' like hell
Big yellow taxi, rusty and gray
Comin' to take me away

Blue celebrations with borderline friends
We go through the motions again and again
Sometimes it's just not the way that you dream
But life is a colorful thing

Life is a colorful thing, yes, it is, life is a colorful thing
From nightmares to dreams, from one to the other extreme

I wrote you a letter that I never sent
On pale stationery, and here's how it went
"Hello, my darling, how have you been?
Why don't we try it again?"

Indigo passion and chartreuse motels
Blue mornings after, feelin' like hell
It's highly ironic and slightly obscene
But love is a colorful thing
Love is a colorful thing

At the end of the tunnel, I know there's a light
The glimmer of mornin', the twinkle of night
The glow of your smile, the green of your eyes
Oh, what a beautiful sight

Life is a colorful thing, yes, it is, life is a colorful thing
You can say what you will but life is a colorful thing
Yeah, from rainbows to rain, life is a colorful thing

This song touches my heart. It always has, it always will. My husband, 2 sons, daughter-in-love, & 2 granddaughters have green eyes-that line gets me every time-oh what a beautiful sight! Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL song.

I must have listened to this song over a thousand time once I first heard it. It's the most beautiful melody with great vocals and acoustic rhythm. This one along with All night rain are my favorite of many great ARS tunes. They were a fantastic band! Very underrated!

My favorite ARS song, along with Angel. I cannot believe this was never a single - should have been huge. I am very appreciative of this post.

Man, I listened to this cut thousands of times back then. Their most poignant song. Thanks very much for having the good taste to post this.
