Association, The - Everything That Touches You Lyrics

In my most secure moments I still can't believe
I'm spending those moments with you
And the ground I am walking, the air that I breathe
Are shared at those moments with you

You love for real
You show the feel
Of everything that touches you

In the songs I've been singing quite often a phrase
Comes close to the feeling of you
But I never suspected that one of those days
The wish of the song would come true

You love for real
You show the feel
Of everything that touches you

You are of gracefulness
You are of happiness
You are what I would guess to be most like
What I've been singing of

Love, love, love

In the songs I've been singing quite often a phrase
Comes close to the feeling of you
But I never suspected that one of those days
The wish of the song would come true

You love for real
You show the feel
Of everything that touches you

Love, love, love, love
Everything is love
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love
Everything is love
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love
Everything is love
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love

  5. B.... F....

If you are one of the few who voted this down I feel sorry for you. You obviously have no idea what REAL music sounds like.

  6. M.... L....

    Awesome song.

  7. K.... B....

Guy with the moustache needs a quick swig of magnesia by the look on his face!

The Association needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, anyone agrees with me!

  13. F.... P....

All the cuties I knew in the sixties are now fat old and ugly just like me.

  14. J.... V....

    My Favorite Association Song.

  15. f.... ....

One of the greatest songs of the sixties

  16. W.... ....

A vocal masterpiece, & the very best of this incredible group. -----------------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o

  17. D.... P....

A very underrated, moving and lovely song. The associations harmonies only enhance the songs greatness!

  18. c.... m....

This clip looks to be lip synced, but are the beautiful  i falsetto harmonics "produced" into the recording? One sees Brian Wilson and brother clearly doing the falsettos in their early recordings. But I can't tell from this video where the the sound is coming from. Are they playing the instruments? Is the "Wrecking Crew" doing alot of the sound, how much?I find nothing about Terry Kirkman online except a short bio at wikipedia. But apparently he is still with us. Did he write the lyrics and the melody for "Everything" and Cherish, or just one or the other?

    c.... m....

    yes both

  19. R.... K....

I first heard this song back in the late '60s and I still love it and the group as well....RockinRonny..71 yrs.

  20. J.... H....

Did the "The Wrecking Crew" play on their recordings?

    J.... H....

    Jo Hammerstein yes

  21. B.... W....

I remember hearing Cherish on WABC radio in NY for the very first time. This group had one major hit after another with unmatched harmonies and vocals. They are the most underrated group of the 60s. This song is so beautiful it can bring you to tears.

  22. p.... t....

    Absolutely beautiful masterpiece

  23. S.... ....

It’s been said many times... there is nothing like this music— beautiful lyrics, melody, harmony. Today’s music can not compare.

  24. C.... B....

Fantastic group and fantastic song!!! Thanks for the memories!!!

  25. c.... m....

This is an underated masterpiece. Because The Association wore suits and ties and went on shows with Bing Crosby and Andy Williams (mainstream of the time) they were not considered "cool" enough  back in the day. . .it compares interestingly with All You Need is Love, the Beatles smash of the the same time frame. Seemingly the same subject. But it is superior in lyric originality, harmonic variation, (yes indeed), vulnerability and intimacy. Beautifully felt popular song.

  26. m.... ....

Who was the Bass Player omn this song..the guy really carries it.

    m.... ....

brian cole, but it might have been one of the wrecking crew in the actual recording. maybe joe osborn.

    m.... ....

    @Parched Pinemarten yes Joe Osborn

  27. k.... ....

I love this song!!! Thanks for uploading it!

  28. M.... T....

This beautiful ballad and others were written by Terry Kirkman.

  32. d.... ....

    I love this song

  33. M.... K....

This is also my favorite association Song

    Of all time

  34. B.... B....

    a masterpiece

  35. E.... L....

They just don't make beautiful music like this anymore. I was fortunate to have experienced that era and would give anything to go back again.

  36. J.... C....

I had almost forgotten about this great song by The Association when it popped up one day as a random cut on my YouTube listening list. I am surprised this video has less than 23,000 views (as of April 29, 2019)....but then again, I have not heard this tune in years. I suspect it is a track that time has forgotten....but it's a song that has withstood the test of time, imho! How can that be? If it's not popular, then how can I say that?

Well, if one judges things strictly on the scale of popularity, I suppose it can be said that this tune has not survived the test of time, but then again, listening to and enjoying music is a truly human experience (well, perhaps the song birds are one exception to that rule!) -- so, to this listener's ear, this song has withstood the test of time! There are many old tracks from the 1960s and '70s that sound awful to me today, although they might have sounded pretty good to me back in my youth. "Everything that Touches You" is rarely ever played any more-- not even on the 60s channel over at SiriusXM!

Wow! It still sounds great to me with those harmonies and minor chords -- and what a treat to see this song matched up with an original (good quality) video by the band! Great treat here! I find myself re-playing this video 2 or 3 times at a sitting. I suppose the younger crowd (Millenials, Zeroes and such) will not find much to like here, but this song truly evokes some great memories for me! Thanks, Moon doggy for refreshing my memory with this one!

    J.... C....

You'd be surprised how many young people and millenials love this music, even though it was before their time. There are comments from young people on this page which indicate the same. Great music is timeless, it touches something in all of us.

  37. S.... B....

    Beautiful. A real time capsule.

  38. S.... R....

    Tremendous harmony; excellent song

  39. t.... o....

Great harmonies, great song, and sad but great memories

  40. M.... M....

Some of those guys look like they've been shot. Beautiful song, though.

  41. M.... B....

    WHAT A BITCHIN' SONG...

  42. A.... R....

    Everything is love.

  43. G.... K....

As an 8th Grader then, I didn't quite know what to do with a girl in 1968, but this song made me dream of the day!

  44. T.... R....

They wrote beautiful songs. I am a hard rocker (66 years old!), but songs like this send chills down my back. Unbelievable melody and lyrics.

  45. J.... H....

I bet The Wrecking Crew was all over this.

    J.... H....

Absolutely. This song screams Wrecking Crew

    J.... H....

Definitely sounds like Hal Blaine on the drums. and thats definitely gotta be Carol Kaye with that bass riff

    J.... H....

    @zazaranger5 Joe Osborn

    J.... H....

@PM's Far-Out Grooviness Oh yea, your right it is Joe, thanks

  46. G.... L....

    R.I.P. Larry and Brian@2:31

  47. H.... B....

Beautiful harmony. The Association mastered that.

  48. T.... T....

If only music sounded like this today......

  49. Y.... J....

    soooooo sweet!!!!

  50. Q.... ....

Their transcendent hit. That "love" harmony at the end soars.

  51. T.... ....

Great bass line! RIP Brian Cole...

    T.... ....

The late Joe Osborn, great session bassist (Wrecking Crew)

  52. D.... H....

That's the late, great Joe Osborn on (studio recorded) bass. His distinctive lines, in addition to the killer lead vocals and harmonies, are what fuel this hit.

  53. b.... h....

wolawitzs brother from the big bang.lol.great song !

  54. r.... ....

    Happy Birthday Terry.

  55. C.... S....

    Absolutely Beautiful...........

  56. N.... E....

Ah... So in love with the song, the band and the era!!!! I miss you, my golden youth... Where are you now?

  57. R.... H....

An amazing part of my youth. This stands the test of time. Love.

  58. S.... ....

    Fantastic!

  59. a.... ....

    Great song

  60. N.... B....

I was thinking how stylishly brave these lads are, wearing that intense saffron/orange color. Then I remembered Donovan's lyrics to "Mellow Yellow."
I pretty mad about saffron too. It's not something one sees much of these days, but it won't be long for a comeback. You'll see.

  61. N.... B....

The Association projected a very wholesome image. Kind of like the Lettermen. I'm sure there were no pot smoking parties, beer brawls or other such nonsense.

    N.... B....

Along Comes Mary is said to be about marijuana.

    N.... B....

Just saw them perform last night, and, sorry to burst your bubble, but there was plenty of "wink and nod" about their indulgences.
It was the sixties. I wouldn't have thought anything less.

    N.... B....

    They did it all

  62. s.... ....

One of those 'unique' ballads you'd only hear in the 60s. 'You are what I would guess to be most like what I'd be singing of'.. Don't hear those words used much. The song is also riddled with another mid-60s tactic: minor chords out the ying-yang. All about new approaches I guess. What I like about this song, and others like it, is the attempt to try something new. Go off the beaten path. As you see here it can and does work. Often with good results.

Terry Kirkman wrote this song (and Cherish), which was the last major piece he contributed to the group. Widely believed to be one of the group leaders he was the first member to drop out in the 80s, not wanting to 'perform 5 songs over and over again' forever on oldies tours. 'Not that there's anything bad about that, it's not what I want to do. I'm not a human CD player'. But he did leave his songs for the group to sing. He holds copyrights on both of them

This song mixed a bit of late hootenanny and early pop rock. Kirkman wasn't happy with how they were forced to 'produce it' and thought it was done way too fast just to fit into the top 40 format with short songs of the time. 'Had I written and release it in 1970 it would have been over 4 minutes and played on FM radio. Same with ''Cherish"'. It contains a unique bridge, with late hootenanny style harmonies which fell out of favor after 1967. But, it wasn't frozen in time. Critics at the time were split on it, some saying it was pretty much worthless dribble with others noting its unique style, harmonies and complicated lyrics, 'I never suspected that one of those days the wish of the song would come true. You love for real, you show the feel, of everything that touches you'. But, the song was pretty much the group's swansong. After this it was a long dry spell and, by the 1980, the oldies circuit. Too bad. Why is it that such talented groups cannot come up with enough new tunes to maintain their careers and not have to 'play those 5 songs' in the oldies circuit?.

    s.... ....

    What's a ying-yang?

    s.... ....

I assume it's because it takes a unique talent and imagination to write a song. Maybe he was just done after two masterpieces.

    s.... ....

@john froude same as a wazoo

  63. D.... G....

Just saw an old Ed Sullivan tape on cable and these guys were great on an actual live performance of “Neve My Love”.

    D.... G....

"Never My Love" ranks in my top 10 favorite tracks of all time. This nearly forgotten track, "Everything That Touches You" is one that time has forgotten, but gosh, it still sounds great to me too!

  64. d.... W....

    their best song

  65. K.... B....

that guy on the left looks like he's' got a "pained expression" but song is great!

    K.... B....

+Kirk -- yep. He must be completely focused on what he's doing. Artistic intensity.

    K.... B....

    Same here, brother! Lol!

    K.... B....

He sang lead in Along Comes Mary...they all had great voices.

  66. A.... Y....

I have grown to really appreciate the Association in recent years. I guess they werent "hip" but great harmonies...

  67. j.... s....
