Asia - Wildest Dreams Lyrics

They decorated all the generals
Who fought the wars behind the lines
They had forgotten all the soldiers
The brandy put them way behind the times

Insanity has found its way to TV screens
Vision seems impossible to me
They fight (they fight) for king (for king) and country
I never would have thought this in my

[Chorus:]
Wildest dreams
Wildest dreams
Wildest dreams
Wildest dreams

The evening comes, we sit and watch the VJs
Clips and rushes come from who knows where
From Washington across to California
With fighting breaking out in Leicester Square

We see the soldiers moving on to victory
And children trampled under marching feet
They fight (they fight) for king (for king) and country
How many millions will they put to sleep?

[Chorus]
Fly away...

No, not in this world
No, not in the next
No, not in my wildest dreams

They recommended euthanasia
For non-conformists anywhere
Some men's dreams for others turn to nightmares
This never would have happened in my

[Chorus]
Fly away...

No, not in this world
No, not in the next
No, not in my wildest dreams...

  5. R.... r....

    Goodnight John

  6. C.... ....

The start of the song reminds me of the music that plays at the start of a SNES sci-fi 2-D scroll-shooter, like Gradius III or Darius Twins.

  7. B.... S....

    Drummer!! Shining!!!

  8. Q.... U....

Overrated for the name "Supergroup ". No where near the quality of Yes, ELP, Rush ect. Melodic and I dig the tunes but COOOOOME OOOON!

  9. m.... ....

Nice album cover. Look like a pokemon

  10. L.... W....

i crack myself up over the same thing. I also thought the lyrics we're, "they recommended Youth in Asia !! . Lol....then i heard the song blasted on a good clear. Set of bose Speakers with the sales guy att circuit city.and the whole album came ALIVE And IVE never looked back.

  11. c.... ....

what did they fight for ?

  12. v.... h....

    Asia still rocking

  13. R.... S....

Insanity has found it's way to tv screens...

  14. J.... M....

This is my favourite Asia song!

  15. .... ....

Cut out the vocals and it will make a good OST for old school anime, especially the intro.
    Simply amazing.

  16. P.... P....

Asia was supposed to be the great prog supergroup, but for me, this is the only worthwhile song on their album. I guess I can't begrudge them wanting to have a little radio success for a change, but prog fans were stuck with an album not really worth a second listen (except for this song).

  17. W.... T....

Anyone else have trouble hearing the lead guitar in the intro and otherwise? It's like they phased it too much but probably just my hearing loss

  18. 1.... ....

This album sold 11 million copies worldwide!

  19. B.... V....

I agree with Steve How that this was one of the best efforts by early Asia (interview from 1984 here on Youtube)

  20. A.... L....

A classic from beginning to end.

  21. C.... ....

    Once upon a time
    Once when you were mine
    I remember skies
    Reflected in your eyes
    I wonder where you are
I wonder if you think about me
    Once upon a time
    In your wildest dreams
    Once the world was new

Our bodies felt the morning dew
That greets the brand new day
    We couldn't tear ourselves away
    I wonder if you care
I wonder if you still remember
    Once upon a time
    In your wildest dreams
    And when the music plays
And when the words are touched with sorrow
    When the music plays
I hear the sound I had to follow
    Once upon a time

    Once beneath the stars
    The universe was ours
    Love was all we knew
And all I knew was you
    I wonder if you know
I wonder if you think about it
    Once upon a time
    In your wildest dreams

Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

    And when the music plays
And when the words are touched with sorrow
    When the music plays
    And when the music plays
I hear the sound I had to follow
    Once upon a time

    Once upon a time
    Once when you were mine
    I remember skies
    Mirrored in your eyes
    I wonder where you are
I wonder if you think about me
    Once upon a time
In your wildest dreams (ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah)
In your wildest dreams (ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah)
In your wildest dreams (ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah)
In your wildest dreams (ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah)

Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

they recommended euthanasia for non conformists everywhere, that line has scared the shit out of me since the 80`s, even more so now

  23. .... ....

most probably the best Asia album!

  24. M.... 1....

Hat Reingehauen wie ne Granate, eines der besten Debütalben ever. Dieses hohe Maß an Spielfreude und ein Füllhorn an Melodien konnte leider nie wieder erreicht werden.

  25. g.... ....

Saw them live in Austin. The two story stage was so elaborate the couldn't have a band open for them.

    Awesome show!

  26. U.... A....

Some great stars died that year. But when I heard John had died on the radio? I had to do a double take..because I as always a big fan of Uria Heep and Roxy Music? Bit in those early days of my music discovery, I never even knew who he was and that he had played a big part in those bands. It wasn't until 1981 I discovered Asia. And to be honest I knew Carl Palmer from all my ELP period.
I borrowed the First two Albums from the library..and played them on my brand new Pioneer stack system ha ha.
I was instantly shocked by the clarity..the inventive music..and that voice! Who's voice as that? I wondered.
    Such a voice !!
I played this two albums until they were flat.🤔
But I'd recorded them onto two cassette tapes ..
I could most likely sing every note at random if asked. But now at 63 and a bit..I'd definitely struggle 😐

So when I'd confirmed that John had indeed passed away..I was devastated and gloomy for about two weeks solid.
Even now ..after I've finished writing this dedication contribution? I'm going for an Asia album😄
    God rest his musical soul.
    Steve.

Now more than ever America is under attack by the forces of evil under Tyrant & GOP !

    C.... c....

It's all a matter of perspective. If you're a capitalist Republican it's under attack from the socialist Democrats. It just all depends on whether your capitalist or socialist. For Citizens caught in the middle , both parties suck. Now go put on an Asia album and forget about it.

    awesome

  46. m.... s....

John Wetton 's sudden death sadness still will not disappear, but somewhat sad heart will be comforted when hearing his singing voice.

    m.... s....

I still feel sick about it. He had the most beautiful voice. Both him and Greg Lake now. They were both my favorites. So sad.....

  47. O.... G....

I don't know it must be my hearing loss.. i'm only 28 but I notied starting around age 21 or so when I lost some high end (listening to too much Peter Green FM stuff loud I think for too long) that this particular song's once blistering guitar became and still is inaudible to me... anyone else? I can mak eit out but it's nowhere near as cutting as it once sounded.. and I first noticed it on a FLAC rip of a CD I think so it's probably not the abysmal audio quality (overcopmresison/lossiness) of this video. Cheers anyway, great song.

    O.... G....

Peter green took your hearing away???----was it on head phones????----don't ever listen to music on headphones------unless it' King Crimson....then you won't regret it....maybe....
