Arnold, Eddy - Last Word In Lonesome Is Me Lyrics

The last word in lonesome is me
The last word in lonesome is me
My heart is as lonely as a heart can be lonely
The last word in lonesome is me

Too bad what's happened to our good love
Too bad what's happened to our good love
Sometimes our best isn't quite good enough
And the last word in lonesome is me

Arnold, Eddy Last Word In Lonesome Is Me Comments
  1. R.... T....

An American No.40 in June 1966 for Eddy Arnold.

  2. A.... ....

Happy one hundredth birthday to a incredibly talented singer

  3. M.... ....

Wonderfully sung by Eddie, songwriter Roger Miller's last (and best, IMHO) verse was "life is a desert and love quenches thirst, life is a desert and love quenches thirst, we all have to hurt some time, this is my first time, the last word in lonesome is me." We all get hurt in love at some point. I always include that verse when I sing this song. My favorite by Roger.

As soon as the song starts, I get teary eyed. So many memories flood through me, that I can't stand it.

  9. G.... S....

Roger Miller, did you write this song for me? It sure applies!

  10. H.... J....

a great singer,so glad his music is here to hear

  11. B.... S....

The most beautiful voice in country music. Here his rendition of Then you can tell me goodbye, and his Summer wind. Better than Sinatra's. Eddy was a baritone only! A great voice and man

    B.... S....

I too love his voice as well, he was a Baritone BUT had an upper register he could tap into when he needed/wanted to. He had a unique voice to be able to yodel. Even in this song you can hear him move up to a tenor range. I have a Bass, Baritone, Tenor, High Falsetto voice, Close to 4 Octave range. Love singing Dean Martin, Eddy Arnold, (My mom named me after Eddy Arnold & Dean Martin) Sinatra, Elvis, Jim Reeves, Ray Price, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, Lou Rawls, Al Green, I can even channel Louis Armstrong, Johnny Cash, George Strait, George Jones, Hank Williams and many more.

    B.... S....

I love Eddy too but in my opinion Johnny Cash has the most beautiful voice in Country music.

  12. J.... K....

  14. S.... F....

Thank you for uploading this, Alan. This era of music is gone forever. I don't know where, and I surely don't know why. But today's generation is missing it.

  15. t.... ....

  16. J.... E....

  27. M.... H....

    So good!

  28. c.... ....

    So was Jim Reeves

  29. G.... P....

That was one of my favorite records of all time. Eddy Arnold was one of a kind. Can you post his song, " Millions of Roses," from that same album. I would be so happy to hear that again.

  30. M.... S....

What difference does it make a Baritone, or a Baratone, music is music.

  31. E.... ....

BarItone - NOT barAtone Mr. Mr. - E

  32. M.... S....

A Baratone is between a Soprano and a Tenor, Engelbert Humperdink is a baratone, He can take very high and low notes.

  33. E.... ....

    Baritone - Not tenor. - E

  34. P.... A....

I've loved this recording since I was a kid in the 60s. It wasn't until years later that I realized the little word play in the lyrics - that the last word in lonesoME actually is me. Leave it to Roger Miller to be that clever.

  35. M.... S....

Great tenor,he can bring out the best in a song.

  36. A.... ....

It is on here. Skipper12383 has posted it, but Roger Millers name is not even mentioned.
    (don't know why?)
