I am only starting discovering post-hardcore & emo (in this case post-year 2000 bands) bands this year, I only knew Dead Poetic and A Static Lullaby for years. I have discovered some great albums of this kind of music like AFS's second album, and this song is one of my favourites on it. Other bands than the 3 mentioned are Alexisonfire, Funeral For A Friend, Silverstein, Emery, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Senses Fail, MCR and few others. Until 2017 I was never interested in that kind of music.

... never knew when I heard this song back in college that I'd get butterfly's at 30 years old listening to it... let that be a message to you young guys... apparently this is what my dad felt like

i always think about the different generations music, culture, lifestyles... like back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. they all had something special. But the 2000's... I personally think we had it best (: and our elders could never possibly understand us, yet somehow i feel like i understand them?

this band's first and second album had such a unique sound. this was like the fringe of an already fringe genre

I'm where you all were ten years ago, a high school kid discovering all of these bands and listening to their songs on repeat haha.

It's been 3 years since your comment. But the days when I was your age and discovering this music that I would continue to love the rest of my life was one of the best times of my life. I am now 31 and have not had any music come even close to impacting me the way it did when I was a teen. They don't make music like they used to and it isn't nearly as fun at shows. I'm thankful I chose to see emo/screamo/metalcore evolve over time and take the ride, even if I am not so happy with the way the ride is going. I have seen some amazing "10 year reunion shows" that play these nostalgic albums front to back and as an adult, were the greatest shows I have ever been to. Sorry for the rant, this comment just brought back some of those fuzzy feelings I had as an angsty teen going through every bands top 10 list on myspace to find my next favorite tune.

I'm quite intolerant of their guitar playing and composition. Sounds like noise. Granted it's their style but some parts just sound uncanny that does not supplement the song in any way

You do realize this song was uploaded in 2006 the audio is as bad as any old youtube vid. This band are amazing still are all though they split a few years back

the dissonant chords and chaotic rhythms are intentional. it is not only "supplemental," but the constant and sudden shifts in rhythm and tempo IS exactly what the artist is representing in their music. this is called post-hardcore (there's usually screamed vocals too). you should probably just continue listening to john lennon and kumbaya. 

by the way, this song is an absolute masterpiece by armor for sleep. 

@Phil Pacific you are right. This is real post hardcore. Everybody knows post hardcore is Metalcore these days that's fucking sad. They killed real post hardcore soul indeed.I prefer oldschool post hardcore.

Why did they start with the metronome!!!!! You hear it before the music starts. The pitched noise that makes sound, that starts the song. idk i thought they were bettter than that.

They were breaking the fourth wall, which is why you see all of the stuff on the set, it’s a Brechtian theatre technique

I just started listening to them today (9th) and so far I've listened to 4 of their songs and so far, I'm downloading 4 of their songs

I have listened to this album a good 5-6 times straight through start to finish on repeat during long drives, on more than one occasion. Literally the only album that I can listen to on repeat and not even realize it started over, with the exception of Brand New's The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me.

Easily the 2 best modern rock/post hardcore type albums ever.
