April Wine - Drop Your Guns Lyrics
Look at all the places we've been and look where we are
Something is amiss here 'cause we never seem to get very far
Now I got a feeling, a plan, some music to sing
I'm looking for the right words to convey the message we bring
Mmm, I'm gettin' near it
If I can say it
Drop your guns
And raise your hands in the air
You're the one
That started all the trouble out there
Grease me, I'm near you, blast me, I'm in your way
You're the thing in a song, that really ought to be put away
And I'm looking for the right words to convey the message we bring
If you can hear it
I'm gettin' near it
If I can say it
Drop your guns
And raise your hands in the air
Drop your guns
And raise your hands in the air
Drop your guns
And raise your hands in the air
Drop your guns
And raise your hands in the air
Drop your guns
And raise your hands in the air

At the time, the band was comprised of different members.
Myles is the one on the left
I'll be 56 this yr 2019, and I still dig the 70s, I think you see why!!
I agree. Stand back album was the best. 57 here. Cheers
More cowbell
April wine in Penticton bc during peach fest 2018 wow
Why thus Myles not sing this song live?
Maybe because it's really a David Henman song.
Was used in Brk Bd, as a set up. When I heard it , knew it was going to be an awesome episode. Still remember when it first came out. As Canadian as Maple Syrup.

Still got this & Stand Back on Vinyl! Oh Yeah!
These guys played three springs in a row at my high school around the time this one was released. Unforgettable times.
What an amazing opportunity! Now that's a school!
Love that bass line
Play this song back to back with Brave Belt's "Another Way Out" which was also issued in 1972. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ffg6hvNuKU
I've been a fan of April Wine since 1972 when this was released. I was 20 years old in 1972.
I was -2. But my hard rock of preference is usually pre-1975.. a certain rawness to it is what appeals to me. .
Brian Bingham right on !!! When we get the time machine built......we're going back!!!!!!!!
It's the soundtrack of my youth - love April Wine!
This song rings even more true now than when it was written!
*Now This Is What Real Music Is....April Wine Rocks!! \w/><\w/*
Myles Goodwin and April Wine-True Canadians.
Uni Disc Music.
that kicks ass
GOT COW BELL?
the music just pierces my soul,
Their sound reminds me a little of early Rush, although Rush wouldn't arrive on the scene until 1974, two years after this song was released.
They sound like one of the bands Lenny Kravitz stole his sound heavily from!
best wine tune,I love driving to this tune on the 401-Toronto dodging these clumsy asian drivers,
LOL, clumsy asian drivers. On their way back home to Markham ? haha
same city, same highway, same traffic, same tunes :)
Amen to that shit
Awesome song by a great Canadian band, that is still kickin' to this day! Had this on CASSETTE in the early 1970s, yes u heard me.
@Brian Bingham
LOL.....i threw all mine out and jut replaced them with cassettes.....then discs.....now I just go to YOUTUBE.
I miss the days of buying a new album that had all the cool pictures inside and the lyics, etc.
@MechanicalMartialArtist Have you checked out Spotify? You get to see album covers with access to every album track as well.
I download these videos with real player, use real player converter to mp3 then copy to usb which i can play in my car which has an awesome stereo and at home with awesome harmon/kardon amp. Always loved loud rock n roll guitars. And i also owned most of these albums on vinyl in the 70's and 80s.
Steve Woan . Cassette? You were one of those high techy dudes. 8track with a book of matches and a piece of cardboard in side to keep it playing rite! End result good tunes good honest times!
Fk Yur Old.......(I did too)
FK it! I'm gonna watch some Littlest Hobo then fall asleep stoned listening to APRIL FKIN WINE!
High School memories for me.
Great guitar tone,very brown.
Guitars and structure remind me of BTO, sweet old tune.
That's because Jim Clench left AW and joined BTO
Play this song back to back with Brave Belt's "Another Way Out" which was also issued in 1972. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ffg6hvNuKU
if i play again we are opening with this
it still sounds great
my first record that made me play
I listen to this song whenever i feel like showing people how to rock.
Canadians have great taste in rock music!
One of my favorite wine songs!
Actually James, it was on "On Record", not on Stand Back. Stand Back came out three years later.
reminds me of calgary in the 70s
Right behind Mountain's CLASSIC 'Mississippi Queen' !
WRONG - THIS SONG DID NOT APPEAR ON THIS LP, IT IS ON 'STAND BACK'.
Wrong. This song is on the album on record

I saw David Henman play this not even 2 hours ago with his band, beautiful.
this canadian band is very good..under rated
@Raelspark -- Ya- no doubt-- Alex was/is probably a fan like the rest of us! Who ever says Canadians can't rock is full of crap!!
@sweetgypsy100
Alex Lifeson must have been listening to this when he was young.
Drop yur guns and wave yur hands in the air!......oh man....bring the chills....imagine it!
Imagine....drop yur guns and wave yur hands in the air!.....what a tune....so relevant.
@sofndfkj Alot of WIN there!
@44patroy I used to live in B.C for quite a while. Has the best scenery and fishing I have ever experienced :)
Proud to be Canadian,baby!! :) :)
Best band ever!! (from Canada anyway) especially since they are originated out of Halifax Nova Scotia (where I am from) :D
this song is the one that needs 100 million views. not some shitty hip hop pop shit.
I started listening to AW when we landed in NS in' 73. They are the best live band Canada has and we have MANY great bands!!!
I remember going to see them in sudbury Ontario 3 different times.
Always good frineds, good times and so much smoke that the cops were HIGH in the hallway.
They were there for safety and to make sure we all had a good time.
Good bless the Sudbury Regional Police and especially Constable Grant Shaw.
One of the best Canadian Rock Classics ever recorded. I love this band!
Someday I will lead an army, defeat my enemies and demand their surrender simply by playing this song.
What's the chances you could post carry on from this album??...thanx much
I was 4 yrs old listening to this song with my brother singing and raising my hands during the chorus. my brother died in 2007 today would have been his birthday. With tears in my eyes I raise my hands again. R.I.P Dana miss you and love you.

That is one of my favourite albums! i fuckin love April Wine.
no one can sing like Myles Goodwyn
THIS WAS MY FAVOURITE SONG FROM THEIR GREATEST HITS ALBUM (forgive me: it was the only april wine i had in my house)
@calvintoronto I was just reading their (your) wiki page prior to searching the contents of youtube, nice job. And I must agree with your former paragraph; however, with some searching, good music can still be found. You won't find it anywhere on a mainstream station though =[ Music is declining oh so quick.
gonna see the band this weekend...play it loud or stay home....
@japanisefishmarket haha so true
bonne !!!!
tHIS SONG MADE IT TO #2 at ckxl
I remember hearing it on CKXL heading to Calgary from Saskatoon on a cold grey windy night. It still is in my mind.
