Annihilator ever suffered from the fact that the band was so fragmented and with no long-term musicians but Jeff Waters and his continously mutating ideas about what to do with his music; they have a great sound and Smothered is one of my favourites, but i think they've could done better things.
My two cents.

actually, Padden is the best vocalist that they had. And not because of his voice (which I kinda like), but because he and Jeff can go along ... which wasn't the case before...

He has a good voice and technique, it's only that he's doomed to be compared to Rampage (asshole) and Pharr. Listen to Set the World On Fire from their latest DVD without watching the TV and you will be surprised how good Padden sings it.

So, give the man his due - he's part of Annihilator and does his job well.
