Anderson, Lynn - Cry Lyrics
If your sweetheart sends a letter of goodbye
It's no secret you feel better if you cry
When waking from a bad dream don't you sometimes think it's real
But it's only false emotions that you feel
And your blues keep getting bluer with each song
Remember sunshine can be found behind the cloudy sky
So let your head down and go on and cry
...

Nice version but if you've never heard Johnnie Ray's smash hit version, please do. One of the most emotional performances ever! A crooner who sang with the passion of soul & rock'n'roll before they even existed.

On this day in 1972 {May 2nd} Lynn Anderson appeared as a guest on the Philadelphia-based syndicated television program 'The Mike Douglas Show'...
Nowhere on the internet can I find it she performed a song on the show; but during the calendar year of 1972 she had three huge hits on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart; "Cry" {at #3}, "Listen to a Country Song" {at #4}, and "Fool Me" {at #4}...
Between 1966 and 1991 she had sixty records on the Hot Country Singles chart; seventeen made the Top 10 with five* reaching #1; "Rose Garden" {1970}, "You're My Man" {1971}, "How Can I Unlove You" {1971}, "Keep Me In Mind" {1973}, and "What A Man My Man Is" {1974}...
Lynn Rene Anderson passed away at the young age of 67 on July 30th, 2015...
May she R.I.P.
* She just missed having a sixth #1 record when "That's A No No" peaked at #2 in 1969...
