Amos, Tori - The Wrong Band Lyrics

I think it's perfectly clear
We're in the wrong band
Ginger is always sincere
Just not to one man
She called me up
And said you know that i'm drowning
It's the dog trainer again
He says that he thinks that she needs more hands

I think it perfectly clear
We're in the wrong band
Senator let's be sincere
As much as you can
He called her up
And he said the new prosecutor
Soon will be wanting a word
So she's got a soft sport for heels and spurs
And there's something believin
In her voice again
Said there's something believin instead of just leavin

And she gets her cigars
From the sweet fat man
I think it's perfectly clear
We're in the wrong band
Heidi shays she'll be sincere
As much as she can
I called her up
And I said you know that I'm drowning
Put on your raincoat again
Cause even the sun's got a price on it
And there's something believin
In her voice again
Said there's something believin instead of just leavin

She said it's time I open my eyes
Don't be afraid to open your eyes
Maybe she's right
Maybe she's right
Maybe she's right
Maybe she's right

Amos, Tori The Wrong Band Comments
  1. w.... ....

    instead of just leaving

  2. T.... B....

The piano in this sort of sounds like Suspended in Gaffa

    T.... B....

Yes, I've often thought that ...

  3. T.... T....

She and Regina Spektor should have done a collab

  4. S.... S....

    Nice melodic number.

  5. J.... C....

I quoted this song in an exit interview from a horrible job. Thanks, Tori: you saved my sanity at age 18, but at 43, I find your lyrics even more valuable.

    J.... C....

So fun to do that haha!

  6. M.... ....

    Her voice is so sweet..

Song takes me back to my high school love. There was one night long ago I was riding the bus with her home but separate stops of course. When she got off the bus, I felt a yearning in my heart for her that I have never felt before and never have again. I loved her deeply, but our destinies took us to different paths in our lives. I made the stupid decision to go to college iand left the love of my life back home. To relive my dream of going back in time I may write a story about it, called "The power of your love to go back in time"

Perhaps you'll find her again, Tony; if not you had this; the longing, the sweet (unfulfilled) love, and I can't help feeling it may have enriched your life somehow. Tori would know, she always does. Best.-)

  8. L.... ....

the chorus popped into my head out of nowhere today so i had to revisit this hidden gem.

  9. f.... ....

*there's something believing in her voice again* breaks my heart

  10. k.... r....

it does resonate, if only for the line "even the sun's got a price on it" (which is true, ask your travel agent lol). It actually breaks your heart in places.

  11. S.... W....

Love this song.  Not sure why it doesn't resonate with Toriphiles.

+Stewart Winograd I like it too. Not sure why either. No idea what it is about. Not a huge Tori Amos fan either. I suppose it just sounds good, and as Eddie VanHalen says, "if it sounds good, it is good." :-) God bless.

    S.... W....

    Toriadorers

    S.... W....

Ears with feet. And we all love this song:-)

    S.... W....

The song is about an upscale prostitute that Tori once knew when she lived in D.C.
