Amos, Tori - Raining Blood Lyrics

Trapped in purgatory
A lifeless object, alive
Awaiting reprisal
Death will be their acquisition
The sky is turning red
Return to power draws near
Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears
Abolish the rules made of stone
Pierced from below, souls of my treacherous past
Betrayed by many, now ornaments dripping above
Awaiting the hour of reprisal
Your time slips away
Raining blood
From a lacerated sky
Bleeding its horror
Creating my structure
Now I shall reign in blood

  4. J.... W....

Die hard slayer fan here, ain’t gonna lie... this is fucking cool as, very dark and fitting for a band like slayer, doesn’t need to be thrashy to be great

  5. t.... s....

Shit wrong video was looking for slayer

  6. A.... t....

I said this before but if I were to compare the two it would be like this.

Slayer's version - When the Apocalypse hits.

Tori Amos' version - The death and destruction left behind.

  7. A.... J....

Slayer is one of my favorite bands. Getting that outta the way right now.
Raining Blood is one of those songs that just instinctively give you white knuckle syndrome, it pumps you full of enough adrenaline to kill you twice over. Its as if Hell itself is spilling out from underground and completely obliterating everything you know and love.
    But this....this is the aftermath.
The hair raising unadulterated fury of the original is replaced with an ominous, overwhelming sorrowful sensation, as if your standing in ground zero of the aftermath of the cataclysmic event, almost dumbfound at everything you know and love is gone.....and you envy them. You envy the fact your loved ones are not able to witness the eldrich horrors now before you...and you can only pray your end will be soon as well.

    A.... J....

    Ok boomer

    A.... J....

    @Chemicalcave seriously?...

  8. s.... ....

    Przepraszam, to jakiś żart ?

  9. A.... M....

    Terrible, just terrible.

  10. w.... ....

    Heavier then the original

  11. J.... M....

I tired speeding it up x2 speed and its still way too f-ing slow. Seriously who likes this?

  12. J.... J....

Leave it to Tori Amos to render a Slayer song so delicate and pristine.

  13. B.... S....

Now I have something to prove to my extremly religious parents that Im not a satanist.
    Im actually an athiest

  14. L.... O....

this absolutely does justice to the original with how off putting and dark it is

  15. M.... O....

I love the turnaround from metal to creepy piano ballad almost. It speaks to how violence isn't okay, it's just sad, and shouldn't be here, and especially shouldn't be considered something to rock out about. Like it's awesome, and okay. Because it's not. Any life lost too early is not okay, and makes me want to cry. I love that Tori did this.

  16. W.... E....

I like this a lot. It’s almost like taking Mazzy Star and turning her awesomely creepy.

    W.... E....

Hope Sandoval doesn't need anything turning her creepy, bless her heart

  17. S.... S....

    What a senseless shit

  18. D.... L....

It has a very middle-eastern flavor to it. And to those saying this version is better than that version or vice-versa... You clearly know nothing about music so shut the fuck up. Both versions are immense in their own rights.

  19. M.... C....

Neil Gaiman wrote an amazing and heartbreaking short story to accompany this song. It's like four paragraphs long, but after reading it, I couldn't think about anything else.

    M.... C....

Wait WHAT?? WHO DID WHAT?!? HOLY FUCK I'VE GOT TO FIND THAT

    M.... C....

    Sauce pls

    M.... C....

@Bridgett Lane Found it, at least I think I have:

Here: an exercise in choice. Your choice. One of these tales is true. She lived through the war. In 1959 she came to America. She now lives in a condo in Miami, a tiny French woman with white hair, with a daughter and a grand-daughter. She keeps herself to herself and smiles rarely, as if the weight of memory keeps her from finding joy.

Or that's a lie. Actually the Gestapo picked her up during a border crossing in 1943, and they left her in a meadow. First she dug her own grave, then a single bullet to the back of the skull.

Her last thought, before that bullet, was that she was four months' pregnant, and that if we do not fight to create a future there will be no future for any of us.

There is an old woman in Miami who wakes, confused, from a dream of the wind blowing the wildflowers in a meadow.

There are bones untouched beneath the warm French earth which dream of a daughter's wedding. Good wine is drunk. The only tears shed are happy ones.

  20. A.... n....

No he escuchado la canción y de verdad no sé como va a salir esto

  21. J.... B....

    Lamb lays Down on Broadway?

  22. B.... T....

I really like it. Especially the borderline atonal piano. It has an ambient Radiohead vibe, but crossed with Amos's beautiful, evocative voice.

  23. s.... k....

Oh my god..this is absolutely beautiful..❤❤

  24. o.... ....

This is absolutely incredible. The performance is perfect. The reimagining of the original is perfect. A good song is a good song as long as it's done well. Thank you, Tori Amos, for taking the time to make this. What an unexpected treat.

  25. C.... L....

    wow that's brutal holy christ

  26. C.... L....

lmao it's Reign in Blood duhh

    C.... L....

  27. P.... P....

I have to go. I need to hear original version. Because this destroyed my ears.

  28. D.... S....

I came hear to hate the terrible cover but now feel guilty after I saw the nice comments (I still don't like it though)

  29. R.... S....

    the fucks this shite?

  30. T.... H....

Tori, this is my most favorite cover I've ever heard! So hauntingly beautiful! Well done!

  31. M.... ....

Not inferior just very different, she made it her own, gave it a new twist.. turned it into something completely new, t's haunting, it's dark and it's twisted. compared to the original which is Brutal, violent and harsh. Great version this.

  32. R.... T....

    Better than original.

    R.... T....

    No...just different.

    R.... T....

    Really???😂😂😂

    R.... T....

This shit caught my attention nigga u definitely going to hell

    R.... T....

    Are you on fucking meth?

  33. F.... I....

This isn't the most metal sounding remake, but DAMN is is it creepy!! Very ominous and haunting sounding...

    F.... I....

Exactly. The original is an adrenaline rush and this is just creepy sounding if you picture it in your head. But not as creepy as black metal

    F.... I....

@Bartosz Szczykowski And if you want irreverence, try Reggie and the full effects 8 bit cover. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RXjRKDu544

  34. L.... S....

    38th dislike

  35. K.... M....

    TRAPPED IN PURGA...oh ok then.

    K.... M....

ANGEL OF DEAAA.... oh, sorry. Wrong song, right?

    K.... M....

THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT IS GOING PIECE BY.. My bad.

  36. d.... o....

FUCK THIS SLAYYYER is the only one that can properly sing raining blood

  37. M.... M....

This doesn't even begin to sound like Slayer! Sounds like some blonde bimbo trying to throw everyone off due to her vocal range SOMEWHAT resembling Araya's hellish scream. This cover ( I hate to say this as a musician) SUCKS ON ALL TEA-TOWELS!

    M.... M....

It's not supposed to sound like Slayer. Nothing but Slayer is supposed to sound like Slayer, ever. THERE IS NO SLAYER BUT SLAYER. That said, I actually love this.

    M.... M....

    @Matthew McClain dildobreath? seriously?

    M.... M....

@The Screaming Muscle Slayer is objectively great, you're a poser

    M.... M....

Also Sludge, Doom and Black Metal are all better than Thrash

  38. S.... K....

    This sucks.

    S.... K....

Yeah, I honestly really like some of Tori Amos's work and I would still have to agree that this sucks

    S.... K....

Agreed. This is garbage. I like the original much better.

    S.... K....

I don't understand how people can say this is a creepy version I found it so boring and I almost felt asleep after 15 seconds

  39. R.... ....

This needs to be played while the credits role to a psycho-bitch murder flick.... Something along the lines of "Monster" (ref. Aileen Wuornos) Charlize Theron

  40. M.... L....

Shit. That's what this is. Fucking horrible. Hearing this makes me angry. Sunoij.

  41. P.... C....

Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King gets credit even though she changed the words?

    P.... C....

    Words are the same

  42. S.... F....

Excuse me what the fuck? I have like, mixed feelings.. WHAT EXACTLY IS THIS SORCERY!?

  43. W.... ....

what did i just listen to?

    W.... ....

You're a Teletubby, mate! You live in a bizarre world, almost as bizarre as my own.

  44. V.... M....

    fffffuuuuucccccckkkkkkkkk,,,,...............

  45. B.... C....

Hey, I just wanted everyone to know that I like this recording, and I was here early.

    B.... C....

Considering this album was released in 2001, I'd say some people were a little earlier haha

    B.... C....

Cool douchebag. You appreciate total garbage.

  46. E.... ....

This has to be one of the weirdest things I've ever heard. How the fuck do you take thrash metal and bring it down 100 bpm? I guess you'd do it like this. Kudos.

  47. S.... A....

I can't believe this album didn't get more respect. Every track is solid. I love playing T covering Eminem for people. Creeps everyone out. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
