Amos, Tori - Mother Revolution Lyrics

Lucky me
I guessed the kind of man
That you would turn out to be
Now I wish that I'd been wrong and then
I could remember to breathe
And all along the watchtower
The night horses and the black mares
Ready themselves for the outcome
For the strange times upon us

But what you didn't count on
Was another mother of
A mother revolution
But what you didn't count on
Was another mother of
A mother revolution
You could've have me
You could've have me
You could've have me
Right there beside you
You could've have me boy
You could've have me yeah
You could've have me
Right there beside you

A wife on loan in a cafe
In old El Paso
Next I go to
Seven Gates and my sister's Bass Bonanza
And all along her watchtower
The night horses and the black mares
Steady themselves for the outcome
For the strange days upon us

What you didn't count on
Was another mother of
A mother revolution

I like this album, I am playing it track by track here on Youtube, but I am enjoying it! So different but it is GREAT! I have not disliked one song thus far! I am buying it!

I understand why those so-called "Toriphiles" don't like this album due to its radio-readiness. They want her always 26 and full of angst from having been raped. To each, his own, but an artist, no one remains the same for ever. Time will not allow us to be the same.

I was unfamiliar to her music until Scarlet's Walk came out, so I've "only" liked her music for 15 years. That being said, I wasn't going through her angst with her, so I love her radio-friendly music. I love this album, I keep it in heavy rotation during the summer. Not anywhere NEAR as good as Scarlet's Walk, but it has its gems.

Unter the Pink was way more radio-ready and had that big hit -- the first time I really noticed her -- and I'd say it's better, way better than the Beekeeper (but not her best). The music in the Beekeeper is mostly unremarkable.

It was not only angst. There were Icicle, Space Dog and other songs on that album. Even Little Earthquakes is not only angst: there is Winter -- maybe her greatest song -- and Mother. And she was 34 when she recorded Spark and Cruel...

    Says you.
Sweet the Sting, Jamaica Inn, Garlands, Goodbye Pisces, Sleeps with Butterflies and the title track, all day, any day

@danielnikolic Her debut was radiofriendly for the time... I love it! The fact that it is radiofriendly does not make it bad

her 1st few albums were very radio friendly, those songs still get played on radio today. The Beekeeper is not radio friendly, i can't really imagine any of those songs being on the radio, even on release they were hardly aired. The album just plods along, it's not all that interesting, nothing really stands out or all that memorable. it's the opposite to radio friendly
