America - Right Back To Me Lyrics

Wherever I go it's coming back to me
Whoever I've known they sent it back to me
I know the night will be all right
As long as your love keeps coming

Right back to me, right back to me
For all to see that our love is true

I put on a show, it's very clear to me
And when I am low I feel you're near to me
I know the night will be all right
As long as your love keeps coming

Right back to me, right back to me
For all to see that our love is true

I recall some years ago, when I truly was alone
Now at last all that is past
Now I'm never on my own.

I know my light will be shining bright
As long as your love keeps coming

Right back to me, right back to me
for all to see that our love is true ...

Myself and a few friends wrote and recorded our songs, sent a few tunes to Epic Records in NYC in 1975, they came back to us and loved the songs and said, hey, you guys sound just like America and the Eagles, that was a problem....🤔

    "Alibi" (1980)

At the time 1980, this song was in alignment with the times. It's very catchy, and a wonderfull song written by a legendary musical genious none other than Gerry Beckley himself. I was always baffled by why nothing on the "Alibi" album made the charts, except for Italy with "Survival" I guess those people know what music actually is. I can't tell you how many times I pestered the radio DJ's to play this song and Survival. It was always "ok, i will see what i can do" - then nothing at all. However, this song, "Right Back to Me" by America had top ten written all over it. But as always, NOTHING.

+Wilcey Whatweekindo  Couldn't agree with you more Wilcy !  I have no clue what Dewey and Gerry did to the industry that they never got the DJ air play !   It's like they were blacklisted....!

    Great harmonies!

View from the Ground and its follow up, Your Move, are overproduced albums featuring the work of, primarily other artists. I agree, Alibi is a better album & its forerunner Silent Letter, featuring the re-emergence of the group as a duo, is even better. I don't know about world promotion, but in the States the latter were poorly promoted while VFTG and YM were heavily promoted. Promotion died with YM, as interest waned & by the time the fine LP, PERSPECTIVE, was released, they were forgotten.

You are correct, Your Move was overly produced, but The Border was awesome. Alibi was a better album. Survival made it to the top in italy, but here we were too stupid to recognize it. "Hangover" should have been up there as well, but for some reason their managers KATZ-GALLIN-MOREY decided that "You Could Have Been the One" was the hit single. Great Gerry Beckley song, but went NOWHERE. I was pissed off. There were other songs on that album that could have made it like "Survival", "Might Be Your Love", "Catch that Train" , "Hangover", and of course this song "Right Back to Me". - Someone explain this to me.

Why didn't Capitol Records promote this thing? They sure as hell did with the next album. I think Alibi is better than "View From the Ground" Do Italians know what good music is? Are they the only ones? "Survival" made it to number 1 on their charts. Did Capitol promote this one the right way in Italy??

At last! Thanks man! I've been searching for this song for almost 2 decades and you finally uploaded it. Now I have a chance to complete my collection of America's Real Greatest Hits.... The song "She's a Runaway" is also great!

  11. l.... ....

Couple of reasons.... poor promotion... a lul in their work coinciding with the loss of Dan Peek (this is only the 2nd album following his departure), a strange album sleeve, and lastly it was not aligned with the times that featured shifting paradigms from punk /disco to the then highly popular New Romantics.

Of course this one should have been in the top ten. But WHY wasn't it???? Oh well, the best of these guys are the ones that weren't heard of! All America fans know this!!
