America - Here Lyrics

I am thinkin' 'bout the days
We led ourselves astray
In more than many ways
Here, within the time we've spent
Wonderin' what we meant
By livin' all those years
By livin' all those years

We are here with nothing to do today
It's something we can't explain
And tomorrow, where will we be tomorrow?
What will we see today?

I am thinkin' 'bout the days
We led ourselves astray
In more than many ways
(Here) Here, within the time we've spent
Wonderin' what we meant
By livin' all those years
(Here) By livin' all those years
(Here) By livin' all those years
(Here) By livin' all those years
(Here) By livin' all those years
(Here, here, here ...)

  5. K.... K....

The ending of this song is so haunting.......

  6. b.... ....

Harmonies worthy of Crosby Stills & Nash. Good to listen again, I'd forgotten how fresh and vibrant their music is.

  7. B.... G....

    Light Me Johnny !!!

  8. I.... A....

    I just dont get the 94.166 !!

  11. M.... B....

    Classic America.

  12. B.... O....

One of the greatest acoustic albums ever written. Simply timeless!

  13. J.... G....

    *JUMP IN THE RIVER*

  14. J.... C....

I was a kid when this came out, so it was the song that taught me how an acoustic lead guitar sounded. Never stopped loving it.

  15. C.... C....

I always thought the late great Dan was the leader of this band, but Dewey's voice was more marketable in those 70's airwaves. Great song and thanks for the post!

  16. z.... 1....

Remind me very much of Crosby Stills Nash.

  17. B.... M....

Great acoustic guitar licks and creative harmonies.

  18. D.... B....

A haunting tribute to the now. Acoustic guitars propel the song relentlessly into the present. It has a Zen sense of nothingness.

  19. T.... J....

When guitar playing was a jam and peanuts were organic and green was plentiful

  20. R.... D....

Brilliant group...epitome of youthfulness and freedom! One of my influences...

  21. T.... ....

There they were, America, in the 70's with their acoustic Ovation guitars, blowing us all away. The album this song is on is from their first album which was considered one of the greatest debut albums ever. I think it remained their best even after they became incredibly popular. I saw them in El Paso in 1975. Electrifying! (Acoustically)

  22. J.... B....

Melanie C keep playing guitar and check out Firefall you'll love it. Great music lyrics and harmonies!

  23. M.... C....

One of the main albums that inspired me to play guitar. Got the music book used to sit play and sing to both sides Most people weren't into it as much as I was!💜🎸🎵🎶💙

    M.... C....

Melanie C t'was the same with me. My friend had the songbook. I used riverside for years to tune my guitar 😊 wonderful songs

    M.... C....

    Thats so awesome!!

    M.... C....

seiblerich Still have the song books and albums.. just need a buddy now to play with!

    M.... C....

The first guitar parts I learned was from this album. Loved how they used the maj7th chords in Riverside. These guys were it for me. My favorite band ever

  24. P.... J....

Great transition...."Here we are NOW". Let's make it a great day......NOW!

  25. M.... C....

    Such a great album!

    M.... C....

    1970's PERFECT.

    M.... C....

    My favorite back in highschool

  26. W.... Z....

IMHO this was their best album in it's entirety, like Chicago's first and Foreigner's and Ambrosia's first albums. I think that in most instances fame and fortune changes the direction of the music away from "do what we like and is important to us" toward "do what will make money".

    W.... Z....

I agree with every thing you said about first albums by those groups. Also Gary Wright, Bad Company, Montrose, Boston, and Flock of Seagulls.

    W.... Z....

    @Don Bagley u2 too

  27. M.... H....

    Great hit man!!!

    We led ourselves astray

Here, within the time we've spent

    By livin' all those years

We are here with nothing to do today
