America - Garden Of Peace Lyrics

I look inside at the scarlet room
Places to hide in the dusty gloom
A noisy clock and a silver spoon

A china cup on the mantlepiece
Gathering dust as it did in the east
And just outside lies the garden of peace

Oh, tell me is this really true
Can it be, peace has come to me and you
Tell me over, over and over
Tell me is this really happening

Inside this world it's beautiful
Peace in this garden has come true

A mirror pond reflects the dawn
Over the banks, 'cross the emerald lawn
A breeze has come and I'm carried along

So follow the path through the knowing trees
And each time you laugh, it is love you release
That love will come back in the garden of peace

So, tell me is this really true
Can it be, peace has come to me and you
Tell me over, over and over
Tell me is this really happening

Inside this world it's beautiful
Peace in the garden has come true

Oh, tell me is this really true
Can it be, peace has come to me and you
Tell me over, over and over
Tell me is this really happening

Inside this world it's beautiful
Peace in the garden has come true ...

Dewey always says that it is Gerry who writes the love songs. And yes, he does for most of their production. But when Dewey does it, he gives us these simple, yet powerful and charming pieces.

Goldeneagle, it's a shame they were snubbed in the 80's .... yes they had a hit with " You Can Do Magic and " The Border was a 33 charted song in the US.... I think ? Since then it's been about touring and giving their best fans a great Concert ! The latest CD/ Album..... Which has several great cuts on it. Yes I have a Signed copy of Lost And Found from all the band members In Annapolis MD April, 2016 .

    m.... ....

I never pay attention to the industry only the music and loved em throughout the 80's till now and still love em!! Touring continuously for a long time now!!! Their first album went to the top of the chart!! Amazing also!!

    m.... ....

Your right.... the industry may not have been kind to them later in their carrier and Yet they have continued to survive. Love it ! I can only imagine how Dewey and Gerry have felt when some of their songs were released and didn't chart ? Not sure what happened ..... Industry, lack of promotion, etc. I've heard that Dan's second covers some of that info... I haven't read it yet, but plan too.
Good Chatting with you GEV : )

    @mdhunter03
The corruption of the music industry by corporate interests is very evident with other artists even as they still produced great music  such as the beach boys riff with their Dad,Prince who had to change his name for a while due to problems with corporate limitations and also Michael Jackson who also complained about the industry and by the way did a song with permission of Gerry  and Dewey called "A Place with No Name " which has the the music of "A Horse with no Name" and they were flattered by Michael doing  it! Always good chatting and have a great summer! ∞

    m.... ....

Thank you for the lyrics! Love it!

  31. R.... C....

This is an unbelievably beautiful song. So meditative and peaceful. Wish America would write more songs and more songs like this. Hey guys, when's the next album?

  32. D.... C....

This is probably one of the three best songs that "America" did after the departure of Dan Peek.

  33. j.... d....

OH A FANTASTIC SONG, FIRST HEARD THIS AT A FUNERAL...THERE WASN'T A DRY EYE IN THE PLACE

  34. J.... K....

AMERICA... THE MOST UNDERATED GROUP OF THE DECADES... THE SONG PAGES BY DEWEY IS EXCELLENT ALSO!

    J.... K....

Still one of the best though and they have had much success and acclaim.∞

  35. d.... ....

This is my favorite "Dewey" song to listen to. This song is on my bedtime playlist for when I have trouble sleeping........

    d.... ....

Mine too. I've listened to this at night for years.

  36. p.... ....

@dadoodaidy I bet you could kick yourself (lol)! From your own uploaded videos, I would have thought you were a lifelong fan. Thanks for posting your videos, and please keep following the music.

  37. p.... ....

Thanks again, CB75! This is one of the "lost" America treasures, written by both Dewey and Gerry Beckley! An excellent Dewey Bunnell vocal, and we get to enjoy the vocals of Beach Boy Carl Wilson on this tune, as well...

  38. d.... ....

Wow, I'm really loving all of their songs! How could I have grown up in the 70s and not have collected their albums in the previous three decades is beyond me?

    d.... ....

    Better late than never! :-)
