Allman Brothers Band, The - Blue Sky Lyrics

Walk along the river, sweet lullaby, it just keeps on flowing,
It don't worry 'bout where it's going, no, no.
Don't fly, mister blue bird, I'm just walking down the road,
Early morning sunshine tell me all I need to know

[CHORUS:]
You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day.
Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way,
Turn your love my way, yeah.

Good old sunday morning, bells are ringing everywhere.
Goin to Carolina, it won't be long and I'll be there

[CHORUS]

  2. K.... A....

3 mins of guitar solo dripping with sweetness.
The song the "outer skin" is beautiful but tucked inside it (the solos) is an even sweeter nectar that overflows literally.

    Greatest freakin guitar solo ever.

  9. P.... F....

    Very good.

  10. j.... m....

Both Dickey and Duane each played one of their best solos on this one. On real late 50s Les Pauls. It's a privilege to hear once, let alone thousands of times like me.

This Song never gets old .

  17. M.... B....

Most beautiful guitar solo between Gregg Allmann and Dickie Betts ever recorded

  19. d.... ....

the big house... if you get a chance to go...GO

  20. a.... ....

If had to choose one song as my all time favorite this would be it! It is the ringtone that plays on my phone when my wife is calling because she is my Blue Sky!

  21. B.... D....

I remember hearing this on a friends reel to reel turned up to 10 ! Never head anything quite like it again, after all these years it still brings wonder !

  22. e.... i....

Remember when this came out lying in the sunshine on the grass with a transistor radio.

  23. V.... H....

    Seven bridges seven rivers!!!!
    😎😎😎😎

  24. B.... M....

If I had to pick on word to describe this song; Joy.

  25. M.... M....

Sometimes I “think” when I listen to songs. I’m 42 so I missed all this stuff when it came out, but as about a 10 year old I gravitated to THE DOORS AND ITS grown from there. I’ve heard this song many times, but I just HEARD it for real tonight. The opening, solo and closing...wow.

    Tune in
    Turn on
    Drop out

  26. T.... S....

I used to play this every Sunday morning at a bar in turtle lake WI for my good buddy Larry "the dude " Burger. Great times. RIP my friend.

  27. M.... L....

Duane never gets the recognition for his rhythm guitar here. It's always about his solo.

  28. G.... G....

    💖😇

  29. B.... W....

Toward the end of Dickey’s solo (around 3:24), sounds like a beautiful southern dance. Have always loved it.

  30. d.... w....

    Just cool as all hell!

  31. I.... G....

I absolutely love the music of The Allman Brothers.

  32. C.... F....

Were you at the ATL show in 1994 @ Lakewood? It was raining (of course), but when this song began, the rain stopped, and there was a rainbow right across the sky on top of the lawn section. Half hour later when the song ended, the rain started right back up. Everyone was checking with their neighbors on the lawn to make sure it wasn't imaginary.

  33. D.... P....

Skydog's last recording with the band, makes my eyes leak just remembering :-(

    D.... P....

    Me too.

  34. m.... ....

    This song is perfect!

  35. S.... C....

The ultimate feel good song. Dickey Betts' voice is the epitome of joy. Seriously, listen to "Let Nature Sing" and this. Southern rock was something special and it still is in what's left. Solos that lift you up, lyrics that resonate with the common man, and real artists not puppets of the industry.

  36. R.... J....

    Just beautiful

  37. L.... H....

This was one of my husbands favorite songs....... Rest in peace my love.....

  38. M.... W....

OK if you are reading this raise a beverage and toast the best musical decade ever! I air guitared thousands of songs including this and I bet you did too. Cheers

  39. J.... E....

My anthem in college. Still have the vinyl edition. Closest thing to a spiritual experience I know.

  40. T.... J....

I love the sunshine blues skies rivers and country roads that roll on through the woods on a soft still late spring day...ya who!! thank ya Lord thank ya Jesus!

  41. F.... ....

In college, me and one of my roommates played guitar and were always learning songs. One day I come home and he plays this solo in guitar. I was an Allman Brothers fan for life.

  42. J.... S....

My foreman said he appreciated me and he liked the way I did certain things. How fucking cool is that?I do what he lines me out on.Hell after 50 years on the planet,I better be worth my weight in salt.I ain't one of them that's like a brand new person everyday.I listen, Watch and pay attention. If my foreman ain't jumping knee-deep in my ass,it's a good day

  43. C.... T....

Go home Yankee! How can y’all give this thumbs Dow?

  44. I.... ....

2 fabulous guitarists similar yet different and they played so well together... pointless to compare for the purpose of declaring one the best. DB wrote so many ABB great songs and Duane flavored them with a twist :) I happen to favor Duane slightly, his phrasing ... so many little surprises. Together, even better. Thanks clay33 for posting

  45. M.... P....

Nothing like a little Blue Sky on a rainy, dreary Sunday morning...

  46. T.... E....

Allman Fan thanks to the great taste of my Mother. What a band. What a sound. Long Live The Southern Sound created by Gregg and Duane.

    🥰💙💙💙💙❤❤❤💖💖💖

  56. K.... P....

I was hitching through western Virginia decades ago and a very weird looking guy in a beat up Ford pickup gave me a lift. “Where ya headed?” “Tennessee” “ Well I ain’t goin’ that far, but I’ll take you as far as this album lasts”. Good old 8 tracks. Awesome song. Still one of my favorites.

  57. s.... ....

Perfect tune. Even more perfect on a sunny day, under a skyblue sky in the woods, on shrooms....

  58. J.... T....

    Dickey Betts still alive

  59. J.... E....

First heard it in my dorm room in 1972. Some of the finest guitar work anywhere by anyone. Absolutely seamless.

  60. S.... A....

What a masterpiece (I’m tipsy as I write this)

  61. L.... ....

Saw them in 1973. The guitar was unforgettable!

Allman Brothers kick some ass! I remember listening to their greatest hits tape on my way to college each semester on those long highways between Syracuse and Ohio. Good memories.

Got to see the band a time or two, did not get to see Duane,

  69. D.... K....

This is as good as it gets

  70. d.... h....

The most uplifting song of all time.

  71. m.... ....

    Yes indeed!

  75. t.... s....

    'Eat a Peach'....yum☺️

  76. R.... L....

The music speaks for itself I could be wrong on this from my understanding and what I've read but don't believe everything that you read this was Duane last recording with Dickie in the studio?

  77. J.... s....

Pretty mediocre considering the millions they spent on cocaine for inspiration.

    J.... s....

    What's your excuse for mediocrity?

    J.... s....

@Robert Friel I'm an excellent critic.

Looking back at the times of the deaths of Duane Allman and Barry Oakley and I wonder if their crashes really were just an accident or was it the good ol' boy network that just didn't like the hippies and deliberately crashed into their motorcycles. The Allman Brothers Band were a very popular southern band at that time.

  91. T.... R....

Used to listen too this song every morning. Going too start listening again every morning. Wish everyone a wonderful blue sky.

  98. H.... J....

I was almost exactly 1 1/2 when this came out, and when i was 21 it was still fresh and heavily played on the radio, like it had just come out.

  99. J.... S....

What effing music we had back then. UT Austin campus, Fall, 1970. Baseball field, I think: Allman Brothers, Leon Russell, Pacific Gas & Electric, It's A Beautiful Day.
