Honestly dude, this whole album is awesome. From start to finish.... pure awesome. All the stars aligned for this bad boy.

This is one of the best AIC songs in years. Saw them in concert a few months ago, and this wasn't on the playlist. Very dissapointed.

Well, Alice in Chains is a project of Jerry Cantrell. Layne was God, but most of the songs are by Jerry. Only Angry Chair was made by Layne. Of course we want to hear the twing duet of Alice in Chains. So Scalpel is the conjunction of voices i was waiting!!!

pretty damn crazy when you actually think about it, laynes voice can't be matched and Jerry's lyric and guitar work are amazing. great band, great people.

Nicolas Tesla angry chair, head creeps and hate to feel are the only songs he came up with musically. lyrically he wrote a ton and came up with most of the amazing melodys we hear.

NUTSHELL belongs to Layne. He wrote it, alone. But this new song here is actually pretty fucking awesome. If I dare say so, it has a slight country feel to it.

Does anyone else out there imagine what Layne could have done with this? Best song on this great follow-up to the previous Layne-inspired "BGWTB" . Why in the hell wasn't this a single and video? Bizarre....

One of their best songs ever. I love the theme of overcoming pain and enduring your reality. This band was once doom incarnate, and they can certainty still go there. However, this band has a happy ending.

This song is an epic AIC masterpiece and an unmatchable piece of art. We'll play it in my band as a tribute cover to the late Layne & Mike. True rock will never die!

My favorite track on an album of great songs. The chorus of this song and the build up to it with the harmonizing vocals is incredible. It gives me the chills everytime I hear it. I think that this album is so underrated.

This is awesome song, no doubt!  But I think Duvall should have sung lead on this!  I think he should sing lead on most songs.  He has an awesome voice.  Look what he did with "Hung on a hook."

+SurfingBullDog I agree that "Hung on a hook" was well done, but I prefer Jerrys voice over duvalls anyday. Duvall fits better as back up, did you hear him try to sing "man in a box" live in Seattles stadium? it was horrible. Jerry sings lead in most songs and rightly so.

I agree, Duvall has an amazing voice, especially on lead vocals. But, I think this particular song is best suited to Jerry's style and voice. One of my favorites from him

They really cut themselves in this album, in a good way. It so great they haven't disappeareared into some abyss, but came back after a hit, being the most worthy.

I've learned this song top and down and it's just pure beauty, It's a wall of sound and makes me cry every time I hear it, Jerry Cantrell is my favorite musician of all time and the reason I picked up a guitar when I was 13 (I'm 27) I have alice in chains tattooed going down my forearm....RIP Layne and Mike.....You all changed my life......

It's so odd. Alice's old music seems to fit better with Dexter. But the title of this song just makes you recall an image of Dexter in your head. That being said this is definitety in my top 10 songs by Alice In Chains.

Love this song

This song is so underrated. It's without a doubt my favorite AIC song. It incorporates acoustics and great bass and sounds so melodic, a different type of flow and style than all their other songs. Such a nice change, this song doesn't have a hint of anger in it. 

Sounds like a song which would have a video where it shows them touring by bus and doing little personal things in it. Kind of like Journey's video of Faithfully.

If it does not have a hint of anger in it then it is not a real AiC song. This is watered down alt rock. Cantrell should have started a new band doing his own thing, not try and ride the name of AiC to new fame. If the music was really that great and groundbreaking now it would stand out on it's own despite the bands name. He knows they will never recapture that and is just using the name to gain a little more airtime and money.

@Cole Greenman You snobs are such and earache... There are plenty of AiC songs that don't have "anger" like the whole Jar o' Flies and Sap albums. It was Jerry who wrote & composed most AiC songs, so it should be Jerry who continues the name of AiC.
