Alice In Chains - Low Ceiling Lyrics
Old mister fun is back
Wonder where he's been hiding at
Hanging round the edge
Walls unfortified, inside
Toil away on an unlaid track
Falls closing in, got nowhere to hide
This time
Finding ceilings low
I'm too big or this room's too small
Why's my ceiling another's floor
Past twisted, expected warp
Attention span increasingly short
I've tried
Finding ceilings low
I'm too big or this room's too small
Why's my ceiling another's floor
And nobody can tell you
It's a moment in time
That defines and deforms you
Finding ceilings low
I'm too big or this room's too small
Why's my ceiling another's floor
And nobody can tell you
It's your moment in time
Write me over, false reporter
Can't you let me shine
Write me over, false reporter
Can't you let me shine
And nobody can tell you
It's a moment in time
That defines and deforms you

Alice In Chains Low Ceiling Comments
Ok guys I loved Layne Staley but there is a lot of songs I am getting into and this is one of my favorites!
The song is so laid back... Great melody solo and outro.. Masterpiece!
how a band can lose one of the greatest frontmen ever and come out the other side still kicking this much ass is completely beyond me.
Lol sounds like he lives in an apartment
It's insane how much this song represents my situation in more ways than one.
"Write me over false reporter can you let me shine "
Every alice in chains albums speak for themselves if you don't get it go be a dirtbag and listen to the black album you poser
POTA. essa musica é foda hein. Primeira vez q ouço 😁😁😁😎😎😎
This solo makes my loins tingle...
This is so KingsX inspired
kings x was badass DOGMAN
AIC for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2020 please.
that solo
4:06 sends a message of hope through the ether of space time
Definetly i must buy this album....👏👏✊
This song is my battle with bipolar and isolating.
Alice in Chains please wake up! this is your best song since layne left (including Rainier Fog album, which is great as well) and he hasn't been performed live yet!
great tune but thats a bold statement
Jerry is the soul of AIC
That harmony is out of control, off the chain in this song!!!
thats Chains. sick ass eerily dark harmonies for 30 yrs.
Another fucking beautiful work of art from Jerry and Co.
Keep it up brothers
Can't wait for the new album
I love the trio of Low Ceiling, Breath On A Window, and Scalpel. BOAW being a slight favourite.
God I love this song
Que musica meus queridos 👏👏👏
This songs intensity just hits you deep in the pit of your stomach! Amazing!
I don't find this song nearly as dark as their old stuff just because it was almost uplifting for me. AIC still has the same feel but I'd have say the vocals are not quite as soulful. Having said that I do think William has a vocal dynamism that enhances AIC in ways that LS did not. On this track in particular they sound brilliant, clean, polished, and, fantastic. Absolutely loved AIC from my first listen in the early 90s and am super excited to hear what's next.
this band is a freight train. polished musicians doing what they love and doing it better than anybody! rip layne/mike. love jerry/will and boys! long live CHAINS
gah-lee this song is so amazing!
this song and album is just sooo damn good!!!
Such a great song, such a great album. Thank you for not giving up during the hard times. My favorite album to date. God bless
NEW ALBUM WHERE IS IT
My favorite song on this CD
That solo gets me everytime
Laura Q I know right! It's amazing 😁
Woooooooooooowwwwww!!!Power song!!! Subaleeeeee!!!!
In my opinion, this song has the best solo of this album. Too much felling! Jerry Cantrell is a genius!
dude cantrell is a genius.
Olalaa! CRANK IT!!!
Two Alice in Chains. One before stupid fucking drugs. One after stupid fucking drugs.
Awesome song love it rock on Jerry Cantrell
wicked solo
4:07 to 4:19 phenomenal!
Anyone care to link a good video of them doing this live? All I'm finding is bad covers.
increíble, me gustaría ver este tema en vivo xD
this fucking solo
good song my hero. you were the brains and laye was the voice., bit like oaisis . when you get the voice coming together with somone as creative as you, that only happens, bout every 3 decades
fucking super incredible this song !!!
I wrote this out to help myself learn it, maybe it'll help someone else...
Sometimes it's nice to see the full thing written out:
Old Mr. Fun is back
Wonder where he's been hiding at
Hanging 'round the edge
Walls unfortified,
Inside
No different, patchwork hack
Toil away on an unlaid track
Falls closing in,
Got nowhere to hide
This time
Finding ceiling's low
I'm too big or this room's too small
Why's my ceiling another's floor?
Past twisted, expected warp
Attention span increasingly short
Hard to breathe,
This altitude will get you high
I've tried
Finding ceiling's low
I'm too big or this room's too small
Why's my ceiling another's floor?
And nobody can tell you
It's a moment in time
That defines and deforms you.
(Yarl)
Finding ceiling's low
I'm too big or this room's too small
Why's my ceiling another's floor?
And nobody can tell you
It's your moment in time.
Write me over, false reported
Can't you let me shine?
And nobody can tell you
It's a moment in time
That defines and deforms you.
Anyone know what this song is about?
I am thinking it's about not reaching your desired goal in life.
Kevin Chabaud Animal cruelty. Just like Man In the Box. Why's my ceiling another's floor refers to stacked cages.
Kevin Chabaud its about getting high on drugs. Usaually aic song run along that line.
It's about a guy who bought a house, sight unseen. Only on the day that he began moving in to the home did he realize the previous tenants were dwarfs. The ceiling was too low, and he was thus required to seek a new living arrangement. Really just a song about hardship I guess.
The chorus is beautiful. IM TOO BIG OR THIS ROOM'S TOO SMALL. Perfect.
William Duvall, Jerry Cantrell & Alice In Chains. Thank you for writing this song!
Getting high to this song! Epic
I'm brazilian, What does "write me over" mean?
It means to disregard or forget about me, basically like if you wrote over something.
+mikey41rules Got it. Thanks.
The solo melts me
Anyone tel me what this song is about?? Thanks
if I had to guess...heroin
Ibanez guitars Animal cruelty. Just like Man In the Box. "Why's my ceiling another's floor" refers to stacked cages. "Write me over false reporter" refers to the general disregard in media and society for treatment of animals.
"Write me over, false reporter, can't you let me shine?" Maybe about all bullshit of press and hardcore fans, who can't move on and keep criticizing...while the band is only trying to do what they do best and keep going
good one
The reason why is Jerry and Laynes Voices complimented each others i still love Jerry as the the singer im thankful we still have Alice in chains cds but with Layne it was a little better that's all there one of my top 5 favorite bands
"That defines and deforms you" I love that line...
With songs like this, I'm fine with no Layne.
no shit, the music is sweet, but let's not get carried away
If Layne was singing in this song it'd be a classic. He's the missing link to these songs.
The co founder none the less thier woulndt be a band without him 💁♂️
I guess a few people didn't understand your comment. Those people need to grow the F up.
love all these twits talking like they knew Layne personally. All dude meant is Chains still kicks ass. Which they do. Without Layne. Not disrespectful, just a factual statement.
Loveeee <3
That opening sounds creepy as fuck. Love it.
This song is awesome! And the guitar solo is a huge demonstration of Cantrell's style: simple, but beautiful...
Rodrigo Cavalcanti Absolutely brother! I was thinking the same
solo of this year
*...this decade ;)
Solo is so beautiful
Good Cd would have been Great if Layne was alive
Correct, but Cantrell gave them their distinct sound complete with those eery backup vocals.
@mdmyer But to say Cantrell IS Chains is pretty unfair on the other members. I know Cantrell plays a HUGE part on the sound of AiC, but we need a little Staley, DuVall, Starr, Inez, and Kinney appreciation here :)
@mdmyer Are you on crack.
@mdmyer
You are absolutely correct..............
+mdmyer
Agree. The heart and soul of Alice in Chains has always been Jerry Cantrell. I love the old and new AIC stuff!!!
who sings more in this song? jerry ?
Sure, Jerry's main voice on this one with some nuances from William.
I like how they sound on private hell and take her out
@Eddie Garza I dig it, Private Hell is one hell of an underrated song, damn!
I just love the solo in this song
eargasm every fucking time dude!
Cantrell is a beauty
Cantrell is a fucking GOD.
The solo is so cool!
Vey slash esk
up with the best works of AIC with Layne! too good this!
venkatesh g what?
miss layne´s voice
Perfect solo!
I like it. So glad to hear new music from these guys
"Blurred," overproduced vocals, inane lyrics, great riffs with a nice solo: pretty much a microcosm of the whole album here.
@Sebastián Rojas Same to you and your immaturity---SIR. If you have an alternate take on this song/album, fine, but bring more to the table than stupidity.
@S.A. Hogan I don't want and I don't care, but your butthurt seems interesting. "Low Ceiling" is guitar-layering heaven, vocalwork seems to be on par and what's to say about soloing. Pretty emotional stuff I would say. The take on the song could be related to musical journalism but I digress, the range's much wider than that I feel :)
@Sebastián Rojas Lose the "butthurt" and I might listen to the rest of your comment next time---nothing closes doors like leading off with an insult---as you've demonstrated you CAN do better than stupid if you want to.
+Sebastián Rojas You'd come across both vastly more intelligent, and easier to pay attention to if you lose the slander and profane language, and presented your point as clearly as possible. The use of overly verbose, and sarcastically specific vernacular contrasts with the tone and content of your message, and instead of making you look smarter than the person you're talking to - which is the apparent motivation - it accomplishes exactly the opposite, and irritates others.
+KarmaCadet Yeah, right. OMG someone on the internets told me I look idiot when I supposedly tried to look smarter. Sure thing, dude.
This is such a great song. Hard to top the stuff with Layne but this ranks right up there to me.
I missed AIC, it's been a long time...
Old Mr. Fun is back...
