Alice Cooper - Shoe Salesman Lyrics

I know a shoe salesman he's an acquaintance of mine
One day he showed me some marks on his arms in a line
I did not know what to say do you think those freckles will stay
I need a popsicle do you want lemon or lime
I've got a special today if you've got the time
Winking she pokes me in the side well we could go for a ride yeah
I did not know what to say do you think those freckles will stay heh
Well you think that she will see yeah heh I don't think she will see yeah heh

I was told that this song was about Cooker but have never been able to ask anyone involved in the writing of the song about that.
Cooker never worked outside of gigging from what I know about him.

This is going in my acoustic setlist...it's really a cool song to play and for me the only one that works from this album !

  3. K.... B....

I for one, do not like everything. I like songs from each of the era's. Only a so called purest would think the Original line up is the best. They can't see the other players for what they were. The original line up actually held the Alice persona back and did not want the type of awesome show we have today. SO you have to give each line up their Props. They made the great show we have today one way or another. Be thankful for them all!

Still such a cool song on a hot day. Do you want a popsicle?

  5. T.... F....

I think this song is a sly riff on the Beatles 'Paperback Writer"

  6. M.... M....

Beatles mania! But a good track and melodys as well!

  13. m.... h....

This and Beautiful Flyaway. My favorites. But I gotta say this may be my favorite AC album.

  14. M.... ....

Back when Alice Cooper was doing psychedelic rock.

  15. R.... M....

Alice,s first two albums produced by Frank Zappa , how could things go wrong !

  16. M.... N....

    Classic Coop. Love it.

  17. Z.... C....

As Alice Cooper (the band, not just referring to Vince) goes, does anybody who started off with the early stuff - most folks probably were introduced to Love It To Death and found the first two albums later - find that everything post Muscle of Love is nowhere near the same as the original band? I lost interest after From The Inside myself, partly because I was getting a little older and the Coop just wasn't doing it for me any longer. But the earlier albums always sound good to me even 40+ years later.

    Z.... C....

This is actually one of my favorite Alice Cooper songs, period. Like Zolar Czakl said, I found the first two albums after Killer came out. I was 14.

  18. T.... M....

he's got a new flavor if u got the time...

  19. W.... C....

Love this song! It has been in my mind for almost 50 years now! Amazing! Just a fresh, rich, good feeling song.....Perfect!
For a real treat, check out "Dreamworld, Shoe salesman" on Youtube. They give it a fantastic Folk-Rock treatment, and give it new life. Great to hear this song played, and still alive and shining bright. Love it!

  25. W.... G....

    Great track

  26. W.... ....

This is better than anything after DaDa

  27. F.... S....

This is nothing short of embarrassing...you have this great band, a band with dirty rock balls to it and Zappa comes out with this...this is .....so bad leaves you speechless...HORRIBLE

    F.... S....

The guitar interplay here is amazing. This is a great tune despite being about a junkie. Just listen.

    F.... S....

You are insane. Easy Action, Love it To Death and Killer......my favorite Alice Cooper albums....by far.
You have to understand the music scene at the time East Action was recorded.
This song is similar to the stuff Pink Floyd was doing back then which is no coincidence since the Alice Cooper band members shared a house in Hollywood with members of Pink Floyd back in the 60's.

    F.... S....

Ned Martin this brilliance at its best! This and Beautiful Flyaway are my favorite tracks of this album! I like this one better than Love it to Death. Don’t get me wrong, all the original Alice Cooper Group Records are unbeatable!
I wish Glen Buxton was still alive.

    F.... S....

You are nothing short of embarrassing.

  28. D.... S....

Always one of my favorite tracks on Easy Action!

    D.... S....

+Daken Scholz It's an unexpected delight.

    D.... S....

  31. C.... K....

i love Alice cooper but doesn't this sound like a Monkees record?

    C.... K....

    +Carla King

    C.... K....
