Alan Parsons Project, The - The Tell-Tale Heart Lyrics

YOU should have seen him
Lying alone in helpless silence in the night
You should have seen him
You would have seen his eye reflecting in the light

So for the old man
Ashes to ashes, earth to earth and dust to dust
No one will see me
No one with guilt to share, no secret soul to trust

Louder and louder
Till I could tell the sound was not within my ears
You should have seen me
You would have seen my eyes grow white and cold with fear

Heard all the things in Heaven and Earth
I've seen many things in Hell
But his vulture's eye of a cold pale blue
Is the eye of the Devil himself

Take me away now
But let the silence drown the beating of his heart

Alan Parsons Project, The The Tell-Tale Heart Comments
  1. h.... b....

    Thank you 🎵

  2. M.... P....

This music makes me shudder but in a cool way. Crazy!

  3. V.... B....

    Super Legend!!!!

  4. C.... H....

Great album better than Dark Side which he produced.

  5. J.... S....

Odd as this might sound, I'd love to hear either Paul Stanley or Tim Curry sing this one.

  6. K.... ....

Listen! ... to the production of "Caligola".
Klingt, als hätten die Jungs bei der Verarbeitung einer Menge "Stoff`s" und der Rentenvorsorge viel Spaß gehabt.

  7. d.... r....

I had an 8 track of this album and it would switch tracks right in the middle of this song .

  8. A.... F....

The sound quality is very very poor..... 1987 version , anyway

    A.... F....

What that has to do with THIS high quality version, I have no idea.

  9. G.... B....

I could get into a whole, crazy world of Arthur Brown right now!...

  10. K.... B....

    Music. It's that simple

  11. G.... C....

The thing I love about these 2 geniuses was that they got the necessary people for the particular song. Really behind the scenes networkers but with incredible talent themselves.

  12. d.... w....

    Amazing song!

  13. h.... ....

ARTHUR SHOULD HAVE SUNG THE WHOLE THING.!! COZ HE STEALS THIS!!

  14. A.... P....

Still gives me creeps cracking music but shudder

  15. J.... D....

He produced The dark side of The Moon in 1973.

    J.... D....

    Engineered!

    J.... D....

Yes, he did the engineering. If anyone doubts that simply read the "liner notes" where everyone involved and their contribution to the overall production of the album, or just "Google it", that'll end any misinformation put forth in these comments regarding DSOTM.

    Case closed.

    J.... D....

@Jim Brewer Dude, Parsons Engineered Produced and did a lot of shit with a lot of bands. It's insane. Even the fucking Beatles

  16. m.... ....

singer's voice sounds like Satan himself.

  17. r.... s....

planetarium light bloom felt the synapspe

  18. R.... R....

Alan Parson's Project has a talent for great music and choosing original interesting singers; this is a typical gem!

  19. R.... Y....

La canción se relaciona perfectamente con la obra de Poe. Es desquiciada, por un momento tranquila por la apacigüedad del protagonista sin embargo su locura lo delata. Todo el sonido etéreo de TAPP en todo su apogeo.

  20. A.... D....

Of all their albums, this and PYRAMID are damn near perfection...

  21. F.... W....

When I got told to listen to this and it was Poe’s writing this is what I was expecting

  22. v.... ....

    the heart the eye ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  24. C.... ....

I really like the slow part: and je won‘t be found at all...💗💗💗

  25. D.... C....

Arthur Brown is a living legend!

  26. D.... B....

yea thought it was Arthur brown cool

  27. D.... B....

I'm an old hippie that can't see past pink Floyd until I found Allan parsons featuring David Gilmore now its brought me this wicked geniouse

    D.... B....

You may know this already .. that Arthur was first choice by R Waters and the Floyd to play the lead role in the wall film, Arthur moved to other projects while the money funds where delayed ....Arthur was also the first choice to front the BLOCKHEADS.. He was also responsible for burning down the stage in Montroux while guesting with Frank Zappa

    D.... B....

@Jefferson Jesu Arthur Brown did NOT cause the infamous fire at Zappa's show. I can see why someone would think that though, lol.

  28. N.... A....

+Pablo A. Ideal para hcerlo sonar en el stereo de un Ford Taunus GXL 78. Saludos desde Argentina!

    N.... A....

    Natalia Arena aguante el Taunus!

  29. S.... ....

Jesus Christ, the Alan Parsons Project fronted by Arthur Brown? That's almost unfair. Who could possibly top that?

    S.... ....

Same guy who sang Hell Fire? Wow

    S.... ....

    @Greg Christensen You know who
    Arthur Brown's drummer was?
    Carl Palmer.
Palmer went on to hook up
with a couple of dudes named
    Emerson and Lake.
    Now you know
    The Rest Of The Story.

  30. H.... E....

    what a great voice!

  31. j.... z....

This song is all kinds of crazy, in a good way. TAPP is amazing.

  32. W.... N....

absolutely brilliant! if any one doesn't recognize genius ....well you must be missing much of life!

  33. a.... y....

This post is 2 all of u who find Deathmetaldouglas69's posts on this tunes blog, I recommend listening 2 "I wouldn't want 2 be like u" just a few tunes down this list. Oh & as 4 DMD69......u can make any & all the ignorant comments u would like 2 but it will be allright w/ us because of u noin we r all thinking of u while we enjoy listening 2 another of this "lame band's" GR8 tunes w/ a little more enthusiasm then we ever have b-4........Enjoy all & .......By 4 Now

    a.... y....

What language is that? I don't speak Section 8.

    a.... y....

    it's a language that requires a little common sense 2 figure out.....R u up 2 the challenge?

    a.... y....

Mike Williamson Wow. Check your privilege ya classist fuck.

  34. J.... J....

    I lov this track ¡¡

    J.... J....

I remember getting stoned off my ass back in the late '70s, turning off the lights and listening to this album...this track in particular. It was a very intense experience to say the least, lol! His voice would give me fucking chills.

  35. R.... ....

    ... only GREAT !

  36. d.... ....

It is hard to believe such a lame band had Arthur Brown on their first album. This is recent news to me.

    d.... ....

@Filiu1 Can you translate this illiterate gibberish you wrote to English Mr. Education??

    d.... ....

@alan yancey Too bad you are too ignorant to spell correctly or put together a coherent sentence. Calgon, take him away!

    d.... ....

I would but u r the only one who's complaining & u r 2 simple minded 2 make good sense of any language u racist piece of cow dung

    d.... ....

@alan yancey So what is your actual IQ? About 43?

    d.... ....

Heh. "Lame band." Obvious troll is obvious. AP plays at least 6 instruments and recorded the best album each of Pink Floyd and the Beatles. His session players are huge either because of him, or already were. And what have you ever done?

  37. H.... ....

    This dude could sing!

    H.... ....

+Horicert Arthur Brown from the crazy world!

    H.... ....

    He's the God of Hellfire!

    H.... ....

Fucking AMAZING vocalist! Too bad he isn't more well known.

  38. S.... ....

Happy Birthday in the beyond to Mr. Arthur Brown! (And thanks, Ian Bairnson and AP for going back and doing this incredible remix!)

    S.... ....

Why in the beyond, are you dead? Because Arthur Brown is still alive as of the day of this comment.

  39. W.... W....

    Fuck yea, MERICA

    W.... W....

  42. A.... A....

At first I thought Alan Parson was the one singing but I realized it was actually Arthur Brown. Pretty amazing.

    A.... A....

Oh, damn----that's Arthur Brown singing? Sounds exactly like him! I didn't even know he was on here! Nice surprise, though.

  43. M.... M....

Listen to the production. This was in 1976!

    M.... M....

+Mark Marker Its Alan Parsons, what did you expect?

    M.... M....

  44. T.... ....

Just picked up this LP in a car boot fair in Sussex..didn't realise my mate Arthur was on it..I'll have to ask him about it next time I see him!!

    Danny

    T.... ....

You know Arthur Brown?! It would be so cool to sit and talk to that crazy dude! What a legend...too bad he isn't more popular these days. Incredible talent.

  45. m.... ....

    You should have seen him
Lying alone in helpless silence in the night
    You should have seen him
You would have seen his eye reflecting in the light

    So for the old man
Ashes to ashes, earth to earth and dust to dust
    No one will see me
No one with guilt to share, no secret soul to trust

And he won't be found at all
Not a trace to mark his fall
Nor a stain upon the wall.

    Louder and louder
Till I could tell the sound was not within my ears
    You should have seen me
You would have seen my eyes grow white and cold with fear

Heard all the things in Heaven and Earth
I've seen many things in Hell
But this vulture's eye of a cold pale blue
Is the eye of the Devil himself

    Take me away now
But let the silence drown the beating of this heart

  46. E.... ....

Whoa, way better then the original version of this album that I had.  I had the old cassette from 1977 which I wore out.  This version really comes to life from 2:55-3:20 really adds a lot that the original didn't have (or at least didn't come out in the old recording on cassette).

  47. i.... ....

    Arthur Brown.
    Genius. Sheer genius. Bravo, Alan.

  48. J.... ....

Dear ColeJordan123--Just a note to say thanks for the fine production quality of your post.

  49. B.... ....

Actually Ozzymandi, Carl Palmer was not on Fire. He joined their band later.

    B.... ....

He may have done appearances, but look at the sleeve notes for the album, Carl Palmer does NOT play on the track.

  50. D.... ....

I had to go to youtube just to comment, what an awesome this is!

  51. J.... T....

    GREAT SONG

  52. o.... ....

Well after all he is the god of hell fire. If you remember him way back in the 1960's with that flaming torch on his head (The Crazy World of Arthur Brown) A remarkable guy! By the way they had a good drummer at that time,a young Carl Palmer.

    o.... ....

Ben van Zanten your choice isn’t even listed as a member at any time, lol. Wrong

  53. i.... ....

Eminem and Nicki Minaj isn't even music - that's brainwashing material to ontrol the masses of young people. LOL.

  54. i.... ....

I'd like to think so because this is completely awesome.

  55. i.... ....

You sound like an 80 year old grump complaining about them crazy kids in the 90's

  56. M.... ....

I'd like to listen to a cover by Marilyn Manson

    M.... ....

Wouldn't you rather be Under The Covers with Marilyn Monroe?

  57. V.... T....

yes - but i'd REALLY like to see what kind of moves Edgar Allan Poe would throw down for this one.

  58. o.... ....

A brilliant performance by Arthur Brown. I wonder if Mr Poe would have appreciated this?
I think, maybe he would., well.... just maybe?

  59. V.... D....

No i love Edgar Allen Poe and, although its not my main thing, I am not a hater of prog rock. :) What I do detest though is when someone puts down other music as if they think their taste is somehow superior to others who find something else in another kind of music. :)

  60. n.... ....

I like ALL kind of music by the way from Classical to Heavy metal. :) I don't want to sound Elitist myself

  61. n.... ....

Sorry, I may have read your comment out of context. I hadn't read all of the comments to the video and mistook that you might have been questioning the lyrics/content of the song. It's been a weird night. So many people (especially younger people) haven't heard of anything beyond Eminem, Nicki Minaj etc and haven't so much as picked up a book to even know who Poe is/was.

  62. V.... D....

indeed...what amercian hasn't as a minimum in school? and i have a nice copy of his complete works with nice ink drawings too that i found at a used bookstore...but i am not sure what that has to do with what i asked? i am concerned that the prog rock fan above looks down upon the music of others and why would he find himself superior to them?

  63. n.... ....

Have you never read the writings of Edgar Allan Poe?

  64. n.... ....

Please make this available on mobile!

  65. F.... s....

El albun original es una obra de arte,

  66. V.... D....

    why the elitism?

  67. M.... F....

im a gaga fan and I love alan parsons

  68. H.... ....

    boy u iz shit

  69. S.... ....

Wow, so much shit in a single comment. I'm 17 and i ain't like that.
Kids getting like that cos of ppl like you saying us that we are shit.

  70. S.... ....

When someone dislike this song a man die.
But don't worry! there is 1/7000000000 chance that the guy who disliked will die!

  71. M.... W....

Arthur Brown was an amazing choice for this. I knew who he was. Hearing that opening shriek was jaw-dropping.

    "Arthur BROWN?...Perfect."

  72. A.... D....

Holly shit this is awesome! ....TO THEPIRATEBAY!

  73. T.... A....

One of the best song from the best prog rock album of history. This remaster version is better than the orginal.

  74. A.... A....

This is great music. Loved this whole album!

  75. A.... B....

    Steel ( still ) alive 1111

  76. M.... ....

there was an awesome set of videos of this album that somebody made and uploaded to youtube...i cant seem to find them anymore...does anyone know what videos im talking about?

  77. R.... T....

    LOVE IT !!!!!

  78. n.... ....

this must be a re-mastered version my original vinyl doesn't have the guitar rave up in the middle. The original was sparser - and better.

  79. s.... ....

Such a great song. I just love it.

  80. K.... ....

OMG I don't think I've heard this since my high school days in the late 70's. What memories and just like I last heard it yesterday...see smoking grass didn't fry my brain afterall! LOL I think I copied a tape from the library back then of this album. But I have the viynl for Turn of A Friendly Card. Awesome work by Allan & Eric...and the crazy Arthur Brown.

  81. D.... K....

they have some great songs > goes with my scream therapy shells photo today!!!

  82. E.... ....

This song is simply INCREDIBLE! Such a bad ass riff, combined with Arthur Brown's intense vocals...a fucking masterpiece! I never get tired of listening to it.

  83. M.... W....

    Arthur Brown got fired.

  84. G.... P....

    @artoriusmagnus FIRE!

  85. Z.... O....

    @SROpriest true story

  86. p.... ....

@LMTR14 Arthut Bown definitely belongs to the love/hate category... personally I love him! Over-the-top vocals and amazing stage presence

  87. M.... ....

@stevesboyz There is other versions of this album, atleast the original and this 1987 remastered version with alternative mix.

  88. e.... ....

@SROpriest My dad has 3 copies. :P 2 made in Portugal, and of the 2, one is beat to hell, one is brand new. Then he has the American release version :P Yes, he's a collector. :D

  89. m.... c....

I remember buying the cassette of turn of a friendly card. Hadnt heard any of it, just bought it because it was alan parsons.
    WOW, absolute classic.

  90. L.... ....

I can't decide whether this singer is great or horrible!

    L.... ....

better make up your mind quick.

  91. 4.... ....

This has to be one of the most perfect rock songs ever. Everything music should be, thanks for posting.

  92. J.... S....

I had this album in my 700 plus collection..it was yellow Translucent vynil...I miss it!

  93. A.... ....

I really don't understand people saying the remix is worse than the original... it's simply false. Just for the extra Ian Bairnson solo on this song the remixed album is worth buying...

  94. r.... b....

@Galahad505 75???? I thought my collection was small at 3,200 LP s Ive been collecting 48 years,

  95. D.... ....

I did not appreciate them remixing this. I love the old version and there are so many things that you want to hear that aren't there. Throughout the first side until after Dr Tarr and Prof. Fether there should be no narraration. I don't care what they do the the other side. The first 5 songs are sacred to me.
