Alan Parsons Project, The - Silence And I Lyrics

If I cried out loud
Over sorrows I've known
And the secrets I've heard
It would ease my mind
Someone sharing the load
But I won't breathe a word

[CHORUS]
We're two of a kind
Silence and I
We need a chance to talk things over
Two of a kind
Silence and I
We'll find a way to work it out

When the children laughed
I was always afraid
Of the smile of the clown
So I close my eyes
Till I can't see the light
And I hide from the sound

[CHORUS]

I can hear the cry
Of a leaf on a tree
As it falls to the ground
I can hear the call
Of an echoing voice
And there's no one around

[CHORUS]

Estoy tan triste, tan desesperada. Prefiero quedarme callada y no molestarlo.

  32. j.... a....

Got to love the orchestra part with french horns and strings, culminating with Fender Stratocaster....Alan Parsons is a genius; RIP Eric Wolfson, another great part of APP.

superbe musique merci , en plus trés joie à l'harmonica chromatique

  35. A.... A....

    What is this wonderful feelin?

  36. m.... j....

I agree with riot4peace. 2:39-4:30 didn't fit with the rest of the song. Would've been a true masterpiece

    m.... j....

It fits if you understand the meaning of the song. obviously both didn't understand

    m.... j....

It's like classic music. It has different movements in the music.

  37. j.... a....

At 5:50 goes from french horn to stratocaster! This song is amazing, the orchestration, drumming, guitar, vocals, nothing like it.

    j.... a....

I believe Ian Bairnson played his Les Paul Custom here.

  38. S.... ....

U can go to sleep hearing this

  39. N.... ....

I have the DVD version of this whole album sampled at 96hz, 32 Bit, TrueHD MLP Code, and it sounds incredible on a decent Hi Fi, I have a NAD 3020e Amplifier & a Pioneer S-Z91. This upload is much appreciated..

  40. .... ....

    Best song

  41. J.... R....

Alan Parsons Project made me buy high-end audio equipment when I was in grade school to appreciate it/ I was the only kid on the block with a badass stereo at age 8
    :D !

  42. G.... L....

How do they come up with these classics? Love it!

  43. C.... ....

    Amazing music.

  44. K.... S....

this song is like bipolar type 2 disorder
a depressive episode followed by a hypomania and then the diagnosis comes song starts the take lithium as a mood stabilizer and song will go on in a steady state

  45. R.... H....

I don't know if anyone noticed, but this amazing track has a sample of Dragon Quest, or, Dragon Quest has a sample of this? 0:12

    R.... H....

I would say Dragon quest sampled this, as this came out in 1982, the Dragon quest series didnt come out until 1986

    R.... H....

    scottythegreat1 Absolutely right, pal. 👌🏻‼️

    R.... H....

What sound are you referring to exactly?

  46. G.... ....

2:11 Daft Punk Face to Face sample

    G.... ....

What the FUCK are you spewing about?!

    G.... ....

@Dave Crabtree Daft Punk has a song called Face to Face. Face to Face has a bunch of microsamples in it from many different artists. After all these years, some people waste their time trying to find them all, no one has really identified all of them, and because Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk) never gave any writing credits to any of the artists, theres really no way to really piece it all together, Old and Wise and Sirius also have also been microsampled in Face to Face. Some people have posted videos on Youtube breaking down Face to Face.

  47. s.... S....

I love Alan Parsons. I grew up with all the songs. My father passed away last August and when I listen to Alan Parsons I feel very close to him. I miss him so much ❤️

    s.... S....

Somehow he is still with you.

    s.... S....

I'm so sorry, but I hope this song makes the loss a bit easier 🌌

    s.... S....

Prachtige muziek hè Simone, was je vader net zo’n grote fan als ik? Ik heb alle CD’s nog van ze.

  48. L.... ....

    Absolute masterpiece

  49. D.... P....

This song always reminds me of the Telescreen from George Orwell's "1984". 2:38- 4:27 could very well be a musical interlude between broadcasts from the Ministry of Truth.

  50. R.... B....

Here is a question im sure everyone will answer different. Who is the definitive Alan Parsons Vocalist???? Eric Woolfsen or Lenny Zakatek. I love songs by both Eric might be the winner but i like more of Lenny's tunes.

    R.... B....

    Eric Woolfson for sure

    R.... B....

Eric wrote nearly all the songs, so there's something heartfelt in his voice. Lenny is brilliant however!

    R.... B....

Both. Do like the ethereal feel of Eric's vocals though.

  51. G.... M....

This song reminds me when i'm was young and senior high school.... only cassette not cd...

  52. J.... A....

Cuantos recuerdos me trae volver a escuchar este tema. Compré con ansias el album en 1982.

    J.... A....

Yo igual, en el 82, y lo toque hasta no poder mas. Salud!

    J.... A....

Yo también! Cuántas veces he escuchado está canción !

  53. L.... ....

    Amazing!

  54. F.... L....

    Masterpiece

  55. A.... ....

    sto sborrando come un animale

  56. O.... S....

fantastic music. I love this no.

  57. M.... M....

the orchestral side of APP has always been what I preferred. That's probably their masterpiece... Andrew Powell did some great orchestrations for them.... beautiful vocals too. R.I.P. Eric Woolfson...

    M.... M....

hey can u recommend more rock songa fused with classical influences like this one?

    M.... M....

Atom heart mother... A great suite

    M.... M....

@Tamjid Hasan Eric Carmen "All By Myself," and Barry Manilow "Could It Be Magic."

  58. R.... G....

    2:14-2:39 best part

    R.... G....

    Violin epic

    R.... G....

Gotta disagree on this one. Here, the best part is 0:00 to 7:23.

But honestly I LOVE the orchestra in the middle.

  59. J.... F....

Whomever it is playing the french horn in this song is a MASTER! Fantastic power, skill and range. WOW!

    J.... F....

  60. G.... ....

    Tears at 6:40

  61. T.... S....

This is how music should sound like!

  62. M.... ....

Daft Punk Face to face sample in 5:24 omg

  63. C.... C....

Sorry, but this is not a ballad; it's far too progressive for that. Just my 2 cents and i am as full of beans as the next person.

  64. T.... K....

    fabulous.I love this.

  65. T.... K....

wonderfull song. One of the best ballards.

  66. S.... s....

Well, I might be a hardrock listener and I agree when you say Guns 'n Roses, Aerosmith and more rockbands have great rocksongs. However, I know this song since I was about eight years and now, eight years later, it's still my favorite and it'll always be!!!! Thanks for uploading it!!!! :)

  67. F.... A....

The part at 6:26 always give me shivers!!!

    F.... A....

I also like the transitions in the tune around 2:39, 3:06 and the feeling of release at 4:26

  68. j.... p....

Does anyone know what this songs about ive heard its about adhd but idk

    j.... p....

    clue is in the title.

    j.... p....

    j.... p....

It's about autism, I'm not joking

  69. T.... T....

Kinda creepy ,but I luv this ,one of my favorite.

  70. R.... ....

It is one of my favourite AP songs. Thanks for uploading !

  71. M.... S....

    I love this song !

    M.... S....

Amen, my brother. As a technical thrash/ death metal composer, I respect bands that can take the song in a TOTALLY different direction. Devin Townsend's The Mighty Masturbator and Dream Theater's The Dark Eternal Night do such so brilliantly.

    M.... S....

@Matthew McClain You sound like a strapping young lad.

  72. J.... R....

One of the best songs I have ever heard. Brings about a transition between this plane and the ethereal. 2:14 and onwards is magical.

  73. T.... ....

Apparently, this is the first time Riot4Peace has heard this classic song.  It's so comforting to know that he thinks it's a "wonderful concept"; but he believes the middle of the song is so bad it ruins the whole thing.  It's also cool that he"noticed" that other of their songs are just as bad as this one, and went so far as to say, "Yuck."  Perhaps Riot4Peace is too young to know what talent is, perhaps not.  So, yuck to Riot4Peace... and pilotoatomico... and anyone else who criticizes music for not being as simple as the simple minds who attack it.

    T.... ....

stop bitching about other people's musical preferences. get a life.

    T.... ....

and stop whining about "muh complexity". this is not schonberg, nor bach, nor any real "complex" music. it's a pop rock song in a 4/4 beat with some bridges and pre/post-choruses. i know pop rock songs with something more than the verse/verse/chorus structure may seem complex for tiny minds, but this a pretty normal song, even for app standarts. don't fool yourself by thinking you understand something about complexity or talent. you don't. you're just upset that youngsters don't have the same musical preferences as you. people have the right to dislike stuff and comment on youtube about their dislike, but trying to shame on them for not liking what you like is stupidity. go study some music, take a walk on the corner, get a life.

    T.... ....

Yeah it is a classic and many love concepts and you're right there also. Some want to listen to the whole album since this group and the engineer of Alan Parsons that worked on some classic albums like Dark side of the Moon for Pink Floyd and his influence is highly felt on all the works he was involved in and The APP put out albums that were often meant to be a bunch of songs that worked together like other groups did before them and at the time like this one. It's a nice song but when you listen to it over and over with the whole album it goes much better with the whole then it does stand alone. I was so touched to see the cover again because I think I bought and wore 3 of these records out on Vinyl and I took great care of them. I loved this group, their sound and this was a classic just like Emerson, Lake an Palmer's Tarkus. Glad to see one Alan still doing what he does best.

    T.... ....

lol you think you know so much about complexity but dont even realise that this song is not entierely 4/4 and it doesnt come close to a pop rock songs, especially because of the middle part, and also if you told your so beloved classical musicians that songs without many time signature changes cant be complex or genius they will laugh at your face. your comment is pathetic and so utterly stupid. you may not like it but what you are saying is just borderline offensive to anyone who enjoys this and you are making an absolute fool out of yourself. im not a musical theory master but at least i dont say stuff i know nothing about. you are probably also one of those people who listen to sterile classical all day thinking you are the absolute boss.

    T.... ....

You obviously have not studied music.

  74. R.... ....

This is the first I've heard this..... Excellent concept.. But, between 2:39 and 4:30 distracts so badly, it ruins the whole. I've noticed that in some of their other pieces. Some of their stuff is epic, other pieces yuck.

    R.... ....

Riot4Peace 2.39 and 4.30 is the best part of the song perfect orchestra

    R.... ....

Riot4Peace to everyone attacking riot4peace, it's just an opinion, and that's ok, he likes the song just not the orchestral part, and riot4peace, calling a part of the song " yuk" just because you don't like it isn't very considerate of the people who adore the orchestral part. Hope that stops the fighting.

    R.... ....

    Idiota...

    R.... ....

Are you kidding ? That part you apparently dislike is my favorite part imo...

    R.... ....

+riot4peace isn't that the point? There is no silence in this song. There is no break when you need it, it just goes from one chaotic moment to the next.

  75. A.... C....

This song has always brought visions into my head, I visualize a music video where the images start with very serene scenes, empty places, solitary people standing alone, but as the pace of the song speeds up so does the movement of the camera, and we start seeing crowded futuristic cities, and as the orchestra's crescendo quickens we are moving fast through the city with thousands of people moving about quickly using time lapse photography, cars, trains and planes all speed off in different directions and when the french horns come in (Parson always used French Horns to add drama), we are moving quickly through the city as if we are flying surrounded by helicopters, then when the cymbal clash we are blinded by a bright light and we are suddenly alone in the park again watching the leaf fall from the tree, and no one is around. The melancholy scenes are back and slowly fade out as the song ends.

    A.... C....

Me too! I always saw a bicycle race with the castanets sounding like a derailleur gearing up and the big climb at 4 minutes!

    A.... C....

Castanets? I recall hearing castanets on the song 'Don't Answer Me', but where are they here in the orchestra?

    A.... C....

    Thank you, Mister Helper.

    A.... C....

Great analysis. I think this is an epic, the kind one hears as part of a movie soundtrack, with all the visions you describe and more.

    A.... C....

This epic song needs an epic music video that you just described! Half medieval and half futuristic...

  76. T.... G....

3:08 sounds like it has got to be from a movie. if not, then it should be. it's too dang beautiful

    T.... G....

+The General It is from a movie. They did the whole soundtrack to Ladyhawke. Rutger Hauer, Matthew Broderick and Michelle Pfeiffer.

    T.... G....

+David Pickell Not this song (which I think was what The General meant), but close. Andrew Powell composed the soundtrack, Alan Parsons produced and engineered it, and many of the APP musicians played Powell's compositions. I just bought the archival edition of the soundtrack from La La land. I don't think it really added that much to the original, though.

    T.... G....

    It's like a Thundercats soundtrack.

    T.... G....

    In my opinion at 2:39.

  77. C.... G....

    RIP Eric Woolfson.

    C.... G....

Why would you want me to desecrate a great and go into Eric Woolfson's grace and rip him to shreds? Little bit disrespectful! Let the man R.I.P..

    C.... G....

    Just like Kelly Groucutt, R.I.P.
