Alan Parsons Project, The - Nothing Left To Lose Lyrics

Nothing's good the news is bad
The heat goes on and it drives you mad
Scornful thoughts that fly your way
You should turn away 'cause there's nothing more to say

You gave the best you had to give
You only have one life to live
You fought so hard you were a slave
After all you gave there was nothing left to save

You've got nothing left to lose (you've got nothing left to lose)
No you've got nothing left to lose (who'd wanna be standing in your shoes)

You read the book you turn the page
You change your life in a thousand ways
The dawn of reason lights your eyes
With the key you realise
To the kingdom of the wise

You've got nothing left to lose (you've got nothing left to lose)
No you've got nothing left to lose (who'd wanna be standing in your shoes)

Nothing ventured nothing gained
No more lingering doubt remained
Nothing sacred or profane
Everything to gain
Cause you've nothing left

  24. G.... ....

    Brillanteeeee!!!!

  25. S.... D....

Alan Parsons. a musical genius and brilliant lyricist.

  26. b.... b....

Has a very Moody Blues feel to it

  27. C.... C....

Well, Eric. If you were in screaming, bloody agony at times towards the end, then I have a very, very good idea of what you went through. I'm sure it's much the same with other forms. Sorry you -- or anybody -- has to go through that. Anyway, I'm an old man now, and what you guys did has affected me most deeply for decades. Every time I have to make a major change, I get back in touch with you. Thanks.

    C.... C....

Seems Eric Woolfson gets tossed to the side...his contribution to APP is never acknowledged. Parsons is no vocalist...

  28. a.... ....

A classic!!!! Amazing!!!!! This whole LP!!! My favorite of all of them!!!

  29. m.... b....

You can’t just listen to the track separately.
The whole album will give the real meaning of music

  30. J.... M....

    Snake eyes seven eleven

  31. T.... W....

How could this album be unknown to so many people. This album and cd sold many copies. I bought this album about the time music was going digital to cds. But had to have it in vinyl. Because it is such a classic. You have nothing left to lose... Time flowing like a river. Time beckoning me.... Games people play you take or you leave it...
Classical music meats killa guitar riffs. And lyrics that are so right on. I still listen as I first heard 30 years ago. Still gives me such a rush. A reminder that many people do not have an ear for music.

  32. H.... ....

I remember as a kid, listening to this entire album over & over thinking.."This is the song I want played at my funeral." As an adult now..I don't think that has changed. Great song. Great album.

    H.... ....

Wow. You are among the few. Where is music like this now. What happened?

    H.... ....

Huh? I meant I still want this song played at my funeral. Lol

  33. m.... b....

The change in tune is incredible. Alan Parsons is a genius

  34. m.... b....

29 dislikes? These listeners are deaf for sure

  35. s.... w....

Brilliant Album! in fact it s the best they have ever done number 1

  36. h.... ....

Always a fan of Woolfson's vocals, and I loved the construction of APP's many songs especially tracks on Turn of a Friendly Card. This title, and how it accelerates to a climax gets me every time especially in context of the entire album..

  37. s.... w....

The whole LP is brilliant ! in fact it s the best they have done

    s.... w....

Pyramid was a good Album to. Then again i have all of their Albums!

    s.... w....

I agree totally with both, Mohamad & Sheri. The perfect climax for the 'PARSON'S CLASSIC TRILOGY': Pyramid, Eve & The Turn of a Friendly Card.

  38. R.... P....

Sublime ambience and sublime guitar solo as well. What a heavenly song.

  39. u.... 2....

    Senza tempo....

  40. S.... G....

It’s not just word it’s the feeling of understanding the meaning....of it all

  44. J.... F....

me encanta el sonido reaage de las guitarras en la parte correspondiente

  45. d.... ....

    Story of my life.

  46. M.... R....

Interesting sleeve notes. Woolfson was never technically as great a singer as some of the incredible vocal talents on APP tracks (such as Colin Blunstone, Gary Brooker, etc), which is probably why Parsons initially thought of him as no more than a songwriter demo singer - but there was something about Woolfson's voice that was genuine, vulnerable, and very unique such that it's hard to imagine those iconic songs sung with more emotional impact by anyone else but him - and this deep track gem is no exception.

    M.... R....

I think Woolfson's voice one of the best of the music history, it's so immersive, that always makes me want to close my eyes just to better appreciate it.

    M.... R....

All their best songs were sang by Woolfson. RIP

    M.... R....

This song is so important and beautiful as is Eric Wolfsons voice and his writing is so much part of the Alan Parsons experience. Much like Bearnie Taupin is to Reganld White aka Elton John. Gorgeous. Can't get enough. Snake eyes 7- 11 don't let me down. Take me heaven. It does every time.

    M.... R....

the "projects" never got along without his voice as lead singer.

  47. D.... C....

Scornful thoughts that come your way,
    you should turn away

  48. p.... ....

    Incredible

  49. R.... K....

    classic !

  50. R.... ....

Amazing voice of Eric Woolfson.. So so Great, imposible better..

  51. P.... S....

  54. M.... P....

I bought this on cassette the day it came out. Spent the entire weekend listening to it while wired on acid. I describe the experience as surreal journeys upon the astral planes of one's psyche...I'm amazed I can remember it all so well, basement light shows included.

    M.... P....

Interesting how so much of the great music of the 70's had to be experienced on LSD. I know I did.

    M.... P....

Wow. You really experienced the experience. I think you found something with this because I did as well. Nothing left to lose. So good. Why don't. I hear this on the radio. Too heavy? Come on. Freakn so good!

  55. C.... R....

    nothin left to lose....
i witnessed a friend gamble his house (he had two kids and a wife) on the "turn of a friendly card"....he lost, and then lost everything.gambling is for fools, only the bookie wins.
fantastic tune from APP as usual of course from a landmark album.

  56. Z.... W....

There are some songs that I believe are destined to be discovered. Like Michaelangelo said he chipped away until he found the sculpture within the marble. Pure art - pure beauty - pure joy.

  57. T.... T....

Love this song. I live for Ian Bairnson's climactic, guitar shredding at the end every time.

  58. K.... s....

If music were a three course meal, this would work.

  59. S.... V....

    hey jude

  60. C.... K....

This could very well be the best track ever recorded by an otherwise fairly mediocre recording artist.

This could very well be the best track ever recorded by an otherwise fairly mediocre recording artist.

    C.... K....

Have a listen to the recording quality and the ambience in all of Alan Parson Project's songs. They are all superb. There's more to a great song than just a great guitar solo - the contrasts, melodies, smoothness etc all play a part.

  63. P.... R....

Thanks alot for this upload, great quality.

  64. L.... O....

Un poquito de raggae en/ a little bit of raggae at 2:37.

  65. K.... L....

    GREAT !

  66. l.... ....

    Ian Bairnson

  67. S.... S....

Back vocals sounds much like BeeGees.

    S.... S....

I believe Allan Clarke of the Hollies provided backing vocals on this album as well.

  68. R.... ....

I've still some left, thanks for the post.

  69. M.... ....

    Hi Victoria, remember this?

  70. D.... S....

    Sempre Grandissimi.....

  71. G.... R....

Alan Parsons has a quality in his compositions like Beethoven, Bach or Mozart. I am completely serious. I absolutely cannot understand why there is no "SIR" in front of his name. Get it, Lizzie!!!

    G.... R....

I also totally agree. Same goes for David Gilmour

    G.... R....

    Ahhhh......Bach!

    G.... R....

@Phillip Lohnes Theya re only given to weirdos with bad haircuts, who wear oversized pants and say muthafucker a lot. The Grammys have nothing to do with music anymore.

    G.... R....

    I Always call him "SIR"

    G.... R....

OMG, I was just thinking exactly the same when I read your comment!!!! He deserves much more.

  72. L.... M....

Great song from a great duo.

  73. M.... ....

I just love this song so much!

    d.... ....

Even if you don't understand the lyrics.

  76. i.... ....

quite appropriate for an end-of-the-year summation tune lol

  77. A.... T....

    Timeless classic

  78. B.... Y....

    Adrian Belew at the vocals.

    B.... Y....

    That's Eric Woolfson.

  79. T.... R....

Did Woolfson do the vocals on this? ... and, if not, who did?

    T.... R....

    Woolfson did........

  84. J.... ....

As for me, this song is "an academy" of recording and arrangements achievements. In every second. But just only through four minutes.

    J.... ....

    The man is a legend!

  85. h.... ....

Beautiful melodies, harmonies and lyrics but mostly beautiful voices by Eric woolfson...miss you so much...

  89. T.... A....

incredible good song !!! The voice of real silence, perfect guitar solo - even BeeGee´s sounds good

  90. d.... ....

awesome, takes me back in time. thank you Forrator. Rich likes this more than I can say

  97. C.... ....

Gracias.., for this post
