I met Al one evening (1980 maybe) at the Conrad Hilton in Chicago - he was just sitting in one of the bars. I recognized him, we chatted briefly....I got his autograph, I was so thrilled....Never Givin' Up is my very favorite song - the instruments are so awesome, especially the piano and strings....so beautiful

I know he was around a while when this song came out but this was the first song I heard by him. It got airplay on the R&B station. I guess it was jazzy but could pass as a R&B single. I thought ‘man, he’s great!!!’

I've learned that there are people are there who like nothing. Really, their mission is to just press the dislike button. Or maybe their racist. I mean it's a free country so you can choose whatever but the dislike button people...there is something a little troubling about a lot of them. They like to go against the grain of norms.
