Al Jarreau - A Sleepin' Bee Lyrics
When a bee lies sleepin in the palm of your hand
You're bewitched and deep in Love's long look at the land.
Maybe I dream but she seems sweet and golden as a crown.
And the sleepin bee done told me, that I'd walk with my feet off the ground
With my one true lover I have found.

Al Jarreau A Sleepin' Bee Comments
One of my favorite songs! Never knew he did this.. my daddy loved Al Jerreau when I was growing up. Very nice
oh yeah Al this is the real swing thing yes!!!
Unt tema grandioso pero poco apreciado e infravalorado como el jazz en general. Gracias por subirlo!
I thank you for this excellent sharing. Al Jarreau, always so precise in this art.
If you liked this, must look up The Masquerade Is Over from same album...brilliance!
I'll always be in the palm of your hand
Lucky palm!
Since I first heard this album in the 70's, I wondered who were the players on it? What a great album….shame the piano is sooo outa tune though!!
"His first album, 1965, released that year, was pure jazz, featuring pianist Cal Bezemer, bassist Gary Allen and drummer Joe Abodeely." Never heard of any of them, but damn they sure sound good on this album.
I kinda like the piano as is! As I understand it, Jarreau was still in college, or just after and this was made on low-budget...amazing to think that these were musicians still gettin' their chops! Probably my favorite vocal jazz album of all time...wish Jarreau would have stuck with that style or at least revisited it more often in his career.
any one know who are the instrumentalists for this recording?
great song and interpretation, that´s jazz!!!

@stevevandien You might want to check out Nancy Wilson's version with Cannonball Adderley's group (at a more brisk tempo). Unfortunately, no one appears to have posted it on youtube at present.
this upload was meant for people like you in mind- sophisticated lady (I uploaded that too!)..thanks for stopping by mellow.
Great song, great singing and delivery --- he reallllly swings :) I have this album and I still couldn't help but to listen here again and again! Thanks for posting. We definitely need more versions of great songs like these on YouTube (most that I found aren't even jazz)
