AFI - A Deep Slow Panic Lyrics
I watched you go out the door
With poise I'd not seen before
I saw you shine, you shine
I collapsed to the floor
It promised it'd miss me more and said,
I missed you.
Did you miss me?"
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me not to dream
Dream deeply
I haven't left here for days
He told me I should have known
That he hated the way I'd grown to love soft lies
She lied
"Do you miss her?
Like I miss you?"
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me not to dream
Dream deeply
[Instrumental]
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me not to dream
Dream deeply
Slowly, I'll swallow your fears
For all of those years
How could you let them consume me?
Teach me, teach me how you sleep
So sweetly
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me how you sleep
So sweetly

FAVORITE AFI SONG <3
Teach me not to dream... That was all one can do, when serving over a thousand days Behind the Walls. That was the only freedom one had. Now I just work like an indentured servant for rent and bills with a hollow smile to get by.. DreamZzz are ever-changing
I have not listened to this album in a long time, but it is fantastic and this song certainly gives a feel of Dark Wave music of the 80's i love it
love this song
Hauntingly beautiful.
AFI in my heart since ever. Saludos desde Argentina!
Used to hate this album but gave it a chance again and I'm started to really enjoy it.
Too bad the rest of the album couldn't hold a candle to this song
Singing me into my end deep sleep..
Never been a huge AFI fan but this is a very good song.
Woke up at 4 am with a panic attack and shaking; relating so had to this song :(
I watched you go out the door
With poise I'd not seen before
I saw you shine, you shine
I collapsed to the floor
It promised it'd miss me more and said,
"True love is mine.
I missed you.
Did you miss me?"
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me not to dream
Dream deeply
I haven't left here for days
My panic keeps me awake as he unwinds inside
He told me I should have known
That he hated the way I'd grown to love soft lies
She lied
"Do you miss her?
Like I miss you?"
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me not to dream
Dream deeply
[Instrumental]
Slowly, it's consuming me
Deliberate and deep
I can't take this deeper panic
Teach me, teach me not to dream
Dream deeply
Slowly, I'll swallow your fears
For all of those years
How could you let them consume me?
Teach me, teach me how you sleep

Has a really Aiden feeling. I love it.
Jeez... it's been over two years since this came out and it STILL cuts me deep.
I wished they'd played this when I saw them last... though to be fair, the album still had a few weeks before it came out. The funny thing is, that I saw them in 2001 and it was super cool, then again in 2009... but it seemed as though they were "Tired", which made sense as they'd been at it for a lot of years... though seeing them in 2013... THAT was the show I walked into 2009, thinking I'd get. It's like they didn't want to get off the stage. No lie, it was the best of the three, hands down.
:/ Not really my style......
musically lost I would recommend Justin Bieber.
They have put out utter shit since after Sing The Sorrow. This isn't bad...
Heard this on XM and knew exactly who it was. Great song!
Don't like it
DESTROYEUR666 then leave
This is one of those songs that sings to my soul...
hurts our soul
this one i most like from burials. anyway, i don't like so much this album, but i admit some songs are amazing ♥
their best song by far
east bay way to get each point across
This song is awesome. Burials is so damn good.
both this song and the embrace have brilliant breakdowns. they are quite similar but still quite different.
Why does David go higher pitched in his vocalizations at the end of words? The whole album is filled with it, it's not bad, in just curious if it came natural to him or if it was intentional, because it sticks out more in burials .
To this day I barely listen to AFI anymore...
He started doing that live at the end of the Crash Love your, so I guess maybe he likes it, I think it sounds cool.
Max Maidment i mean listen to kill em all by metallica, you will notice the same.
Yeah, it's a really bad habit that he's developed. It's really extreme during live performances now, and is very distracting to the point that it takes away from the song, and the performance as a whole.
Can't stop listening to it
teach me !!
I'll teach you.
+Justin Barber
Teach me?
Perhaps the best song of this album.. those old school touches just amazing!
One of AFIs best songs and one of Davey's best vocal performances.
AWESOME!
This may be my favorite AFI song ever... ANd I've been a fan for almost a decade and a half. My first was Art of drowning, and I remember buying each album, loving it's individual flavor. I loved every minute of it, so much I could never pick a favorite song, or moment but this song... I don't know what it is about it, something about it, some untouchable quality just resonates. Before this I probably would have said Art of Drowning, or Black Sails was my favorite, but this album was something unlike any other AFI or any other music. It sounds familiar, like AFI, and touches of bands like The Cure, but this album is really something special.
Voodoo too?
Soon the voodoo launches to the moon or mars or fuck wit
Come to Sacramento!
I can't believe people think this song is crap.. you might not like the 80s vibe.. but it's not "Crap" whatsoever. It's one of the best on the album!
I love this song, my favorite off the album
@disable radio communications nigga please
Great song :)
Very Sing the Sorrow-esque, one of the best tracks on the album. It also has sort of folk sound in some way, maybe it's Davey's voice. And not to mention, the melodies in the guitar are beautiful.
Dam it's good !!!
AFI forever........
justo publikdo en mi cumpleaños yuup!!
for all of those years, how could you let them consume me...
Saw AFI in DC 2 months ago…. absolutely AWESOME!!! Saw them in a small club with a great crowd. Everyone was singing together and having a great time!
My favorite on the new album :D
....teach me not to dream, dream deeply!
Beautiful song. I Love it!
AFI defines honesty
great song. a truly AFI song
Great álbum, 85% good songs! - PERÚ.
This whole album is a freaking masterpiece! My new favorite! AFI never lets me down!
Teach me how you sleep so sweetly <3
perfect my loves :) keep up ur amazing work.
Thank you
Must say that they went through an interesting change. It's not the same as 15 years ago, but they still got it:-)
Why is anyone here but to listen this amazing band? Who cares if YOUR favorite album is hated by someone else? Fuck it. Now shut it and enjoy Davey Havok's sexy voice...
AWESOME
I've been a huge fan of AFI for 7 years now and fucking LOVE them <3 BEST band ever! more likely this is my second favorite song #Burials ^_^
burials is no sing the sorrows but its a hell of a lot better than crash love
Possibly my favorite AFI song ever. Well done, lads.
The beauty and intelligence of this song, that will never get played on the radio, be considered for a grammy, or just properly respected....sickens me.
I have been one to criticize before but I'll always love AFI. And this song is amazing. I can't stop listening to it. There's never going to be another Black Sails so let's all just move on, shall we?
i like how this song has some The Cure influence
Davey Havok.. my idol. my every fucking thing... You been in my heart since age 16... im 23 now. And i can never get tired of this... I will be 60 and replaying your songs...
GOD this songggg... goes sooo deeeeep. DAVEY ughh why you gotta go deeep. Making me think of my ex..
<3 reminds me of Depeche Mode in a way
I've been listening to AFI since Answer that and stay Fashionable. Davey Havoc developed his voice in Black Sails but the content of his lyrics don't effect me them same since 2002. He hasn't sold out but has bought into the commercial side of the industry. Even his new hair style screams HOLYWOOD. Every artist has a bad album. I hope he goes back to his roots.
Let me rephrase my statement: CL was full of terribly overused melodies, that's what I really wanted to say.
While I still love the older up tempo Misfits esque hardcore days of AFI...they are one of the few bands who I have not been able to give up on.
It's as if they've gone from Misfits to DAnzig in a way...if you think about it.
Crash Love was not very good....but Burials, I am in love with.
AFI 4 LIFE
Davey has such a unique..haunting voice. You cant help but like everything he sings.
well then why are you still looking up there songs on youtube??
AFI was my first favorite band ever. I will always love them. Davey's voice is unlike any others <3
All the albums were great. Shut up. All of you.
Gotta say...From what I've heard so far, Crash Love is immensely better than this album. Little disappointed. DU sucked and it seems like this one might too sadly..
sing the sorrow sucked, The last decent thing this band did was "the art of drowning".
I beg to differ, Mr. Punk Purist
why so much dislike for crash love i thought it was a great album, preferred it to decemberunderground actually. not given the new one a proper listen yet great song though, sounds a bit like the cure!
I couldn't agree more. there were some amazing tracks on Crash Love, but overall, it was pretty generic. This album is so unique in the way Sing the Sorrow was.
._. You are all contradictions. First you go after me for appreciating music on a "deeper level", now it's about personal preference? How about that music isn't just about the type of song you hear, but about the singing, guitar/drumming playing skills of the band? ;) Listen to a metal/rock/punk band live practice just when they first started and then go see a more recent live after they have been out for years. You'll easily see how they 'improved'. This is my last reply to you, I'm bored now.
this is worse than joy division
Burials is a damn good album in my opinion...DU was ok, CL bored me to death with it's generic sound, but this...this is STS quality, but completely different from STS...buy it people, you won't regret it!
This album is amazing <3 Much better than Crash Love (In my opinion, of course)
Love the Post-Punk approach of this album!!!
Love the Post-Punk approach of this album!!!
I don't know what you're saying but the bass line on this song is great
Sounds like 17 Crimes
When i heard 'Very proud of ya' almost 20 years ago, i thought they would end up being a very aggressive hardcore-band. Never expected their evolution. Still love em, great new album!!!
jplabriaire I heard it just today and I kinda liked it, but I was just confused and surprised
I hope the rest of the album is nothing like this song. this blows. how did this band go from good to complete crap? this is music for little girls
AFI! AFI AFI AFI
