Adams, Ryan - Welcome To New York Lyrics

Walking through a crowd the village is aglow
Kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats
Everybody here wanted something more
Searching for a sound we hadn't heard before

[Chorus:]
Welcome to New York
It's been waiting for you
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
It's been waiting for you
Welcome to New York

It's a new soundtrack
I could dance to this beat, beat
Forever more the lights are so bright
But they never blind me, me

When we first dropped our bags on apartment floors
Took our broken hearts put them in a drawer
Everybody here was someone else before
And you can want who you want,
boys and boys and girls and girls

[Chorus:]
Welcome to New York
It's been waiting for you
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York
It's been waiting for you
Welcome to New York
Welcome to New York

It's a new soundtrack
I could dance to this beat, beat
Forever more the lights are so bright
But they never blind me, me

Like any great love it keeps you guessing
Like any real love it's ever changing
Like any true love it drives you crazy
But you wanna change anything anything anything

Adams, Ryan Welcome To New York Comments
  1. J.... S....

Só soube da existência disso hoje! Como vivi sem ouvir isso até agora?! Nem sabia que eu precisava desse álbum.

  2. V.... C....

Did the “I’ll help your career” thing not work out Ryan? 😂

  3. M.... A....

Damn why'd I only see this now?

  4. C.... B....

    Holy Reverb Batman

  5. H.... ....

    <3 love you ryan

  6. u.... ....

This is probably how Taylor would have done this song if it was on Red

  7. l.... ....

If you can make something good from garbage => that's a talent...

  8. B.... M....

Ryan Adams was accused of sexual assault on several women!

  9. .... ....

I had discovered mr. Ryan Adams during my biz trip to Estonia.....heard his songs in dedicated to him persinally programm on radio channel...now he is with me everywhere

  10. F.... W....

The icon photo says Wildest Dreams

  11. J.... F....

So no ones gonna mention how the thumbnail says Wildest Dreams????

  12. a.... ....

the original sounds better and unfortunately, that's saying a lot

  13. E.... K....

Is nobody going to talk about the fact that the thumbnail is wildest dreams?

  14. p.... h....

Sounds like the end credits to a 86 college comedy probably starring Rob lowe an Emilio estevez as roommates

  15. F.... T....

Who's here after watching his GQ interview with Taylor?

  16. C.... ....

    City of my father,
    City of my son.

  17. t.... ....

I like his production, but his vocals are weak.

  18. h.... d....

So...did ryan adams spefically cover this album to prove how good Taylor swift could be, but isn't?

  19. C.... T....

    disorientated passionate and great !!

  20. M.... G....

I love that he covered the whole album cause I've always liked Taylor's lyrics but not the production or her voice, this cover album is so goddamn satisfying because the music finally matches the lyrics in my humble opinion

  21. B.... T....

Am I the only one thinking that this whole album would be the perfect 13 Reasons Why soundtrack? It has some good Tony Padilla vibes

  22. E.... J....

If I want to hear Bruce Springsteen, why would I listen to a cheap imitation?

  23. a.... -....

An awesome cover of my girl T-Swizzle!

  24. B.... ....

Being a Ryan Adams fan I picked up this album and thought, great, some nice new stuff coming from Ryan. Having no idea it was a cover album until about a year later I heard the Taylor Swift song, bad blood, and at the time thought wow, she's covering Ryan, funny i find out later it was the other way around. Whatever, i love this album.

  25. J.... B....

    Better than Taylor. All day.

    J.... B....

Jeremie Buck Not really. Her genious lyrics wouldn't exist if he did this originally. And he seems to disagree since he clearly enjoyed this album a lot if he spent the time working with her to remake her album.

    J.... B....

She actually admitted his was better which it was. He's written a million albums that are also incredible.

    J.... B....

Of course Taylor said his was better. That’s a nice thing to say when someone you admire covers your entire album, but that doesn’t make it true. Taylor Swift has become one of the best selling music artists of all time with only 6 albums. That’s for a reason

  26. J.... B....

    Better than Taylor. All day.

  27. K.... T....

The thumbnail to the video shows "Wildest Dreams"...

  28. M.... M....

    isso sim me parece 1989....

  29. A.... ....

"the gender-swapped life of pets" great. now look what you've done.

  30. D.... E....

This sounds more like Taylor Swift's 1989 done Neil Young & Lou Reed New York style, (an album that was coincidentally released in 1989) .

  31. R.... W....

I don't like Swift in the slightest but I respect the fact that she wrote this stuff but her versions suck compared to this.

    R.... W....

it's a matter of interpretation. I love Taylor's 1989, and I only just got Ryan's cover album and I really love it too. Both versions can and should co-exist. I'm really happy having both versions. PS I'm a huge Springsteen fan as well, and I also tend to mostly like acoustic/folky sounds, so Ryan's album is a huge bonus in that respect!

    R.... W....

RUGZ WRECKAGE Not really. Hers is meant to be magical. Moving to New York was her dream and it finally happened. "Soemday I'll be living in a big ol' city and all you're ever gonna be is mean." To her New York is a magical place and that really shows in the sound of her version. Ryan didn't have that dream hence why his does not sound the same. Its all about how you view the song.

  32. M.... L....

Somehow this song makes me feel like I'm in California rather than New York hahahaha

  33. B.... ....

Hope to visit NY again sometime. Till then London town will do

  34. A.... y....

    He is coping taylor swift

    A.... y....

    that's the point. It's a cover

  35. K.... W....

Really, this cover is better than original!

    K.... W....

    Agreed!

  36. C.... S....

Why no download code in vinyl?

  37. A.... S....

i come here just to compare with no doubt FJM's better :P

  38. A.... S....

    What the absolute hell
I meant to type in the album 1984 and then this happened

    A.... S....

Well I mean I really like this ☺️

  39. N.... U....

Those first 10 seconds with the seagulls and organ coming in sounds nearly identical to studio recording of The Damned's "Curtain Call" Its like Ryan Adams pretending to be Springsteen covering Taylor Swift while stealing from The Damned...which really doesn't make much sense.

  40. E.... K....

You really take me to 1989 dude!

  41. P.... L....

My friend Sara can't stop listening to this.....

    P.... L....

    +Paul LaBarbera AAAaaaa!!

  42. C.... F....

    Stunning!

  43. J.... L....

With all due respect. Taylor Swift if a great artist, but this version is better.

  44. M.... V....

    piece of shit... 💩💩💩

  45. A.... B....

    love this song......

  46. P.... S....

I've heard of cover songs but a cover album is a first for me...interested in listening to the whole thing cuz I love Taylor Swift's album so much...curious how this one sounds...

  47. B.... M....

Not forggetting Taylor, nothing like Ryan.

  48. n.... ....

    watch here:

youtube: "trevor noah show - ryan adams blank space"

I love what ryan did to those songs of taylor swift.

  49. D.... B....

shoutout for swifties who has been missing her country songs :( still♡taytay btw

  50. h.... ....

i dont really like how you sing.. ya i dont no offence

  51. f.... ....

Too much REVERB. Springsteen didn't use that much reverb. It's a decent song, but as good as the Boss? PUHLEASE!

  52. p.... ....

That's an odd mention. Decades ago,  (B)ryan Adams was declared the poor-man's John Mellencamp, soon after Mr. Mellencamp was declared the poor-man's Bruce Springsteen. Mediocrity will never die!

  53. H.... N....

When I first heard this randomly I honestly thought it was Taylor Swift who covered the song, not the other way around.

  54. s.... ....

I guess, I have to listen to Taylor Swift , now!

  55. D.... ....

Hey fuckers im a aspiring singer/songwriter and i just uploaded another track into Soundcloud. If you could be so lovely and check this shit out thanks :)
    https://soundcloud.com/damnedeel/what-can-i-say

  56. S.... M....

CANT EVEN FIND THE ORIGINAL ONLY THIS, WHAT IS THIS???? THE ONLY THING THAT COMES UP UGGGGGH AND DONT HATE ON ME IF YOU DISAGREE

  57. S.... ....

This is much better than the original!

  58. m.... ....

    This sucks

  59. B.... W....

Ryan, you're a genius. It was hard to me to realize that Taylor turned into pop music, and sorry for saying this but, I think 1989 is the worst album of her, but you made a cover of it and it's amazing!! Also, I don't like the original version of Welcome To New York but yours is awesome! THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS.

  60. p.... ....

The Father John Misty cover is really good

  61. D.... B....

This is not Springsteen. He's has a better voice than that overrated guy. Springsteen only has one good song and that's Born to Run. The rest of his stuff is overrated, boring and dull.. Ryan Adams is a much better singer and this a great cover.

  62. R.... B....

dalton and Ritter and cowles...you're extremely limited in your ability to experience music

  63. R.... B....

Taylor swift is lovely and talented( albeit she cannot make the turn into the new age) and she cannot deliver on anyone's acceptance that she came anywhere even near the experience denoted in ryans' 1989 compositions

  64. R.... B....

revolutionized music production marketing...thunderous approval from artists far and wide though the swift campaign appears to have decamped.....

  65. R.... B....

the context per ryan adams one thing, the teenybopper country adolescent girl and her momma's needs Taylor Swift's bent.

  66. R.... B....

you will be decimated no doubt, decimus, to discover that this prearranged collaboration is 85 to 90% adams' composition

  67. R.... B....

the readers who are capable of hearing readily see this in your silly statements...and yes. fakers gonna fake

  68. R.... B....

and what is a Springsteen vibe..? if Chester and Edgar kacey knew anything about music other than all they can hear because...they don't know how to listen....and if they were in a like instance not ignorant to the original premise for these stories and congruent compositions( Adams', not swifts') then they wouldn't be so reliant on bias in its opposition to authentic talent

  69. Z.... G....

i love this vibe this album

  70. p.... m....

taylor swift is d best..ryan adams literally blewed up all her tracks. .n made them from best to worst..

  71. K.... B....

This is so good. So good. Haters gonna hate.

  72. J.... H....

This song does remind of Bruce Springsteen.

  73. m.... l....

his covers are just amazing ....Cheers man, sorry we weren't for you since the start...real artist

  74. A.... T....

Sounds like the Gaslight Anthem covering Taylor Swift also.

  75. S.... E....

I like it better than TS.

  76. R.... ....

Holy moly, uh-mazing cover. The reverb and Adams' distinct voice lend this song a Bruce Springsteen-esque sound, circa early 80s. Went and listened to Taylor's original and was expecting something as high-energy as this, but was disappointed. Taylor does a good enough job, but I suspect many listeners will rightly conclude Ryan Adams has somehow outdone the original, infusing Swift's art with a heavy dose of "been-there, done-that" emotional maturity and a hint of melancholic lamentation, as typically characterizes Adams' work.

  77. C.... L....

Is anyone else getting The Killers vibe from this? Just me? Ok

  78. d.... ....

actually i'm expecting he covers You Are In Love. must be great.

  79. T.... A....

    A bit of Springsteen.

  80. a.... ....

    I really like these!!

  81. M.... ....

Goosebumps af after I listened to this.

  82. Y.... K....

He made it into a country song

  83. N.... C....

And we danced - by the hooters and no surrender bruce.

As a point - Ryan Adams Is Great. THE GREATEST of his generation. Simply put… The man.

    N.... C....

+Nathan Cowles OMG your're right! I was trying to put my finger on what this sounds like and it indeed has similarities to "And We Danced" by The Hooters as well as a decidedly Bruce Springsteen sound.

  84. N.... C....

    No Surrender and the Hooters.

  85. a.... ....

This could easily be the missing 10th track on Damn the Torpedoes.

  86. M.... C....

This is Masterpiece CD. Can't believe he did this - but boy what a home run!

  87. R.... A....

    you sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  88. A.... L....

    reaaaaaaaaaally nice!

  89. .... ....

I'm somewhere in between this and ''All you had to do was stay'' as to which is the damn catchier one;I'll just keep listening to them on a loop until I can either decide or drive my neighbors to commit suicide.

  90. p.... !....

    OMG I LOVE

  91. C.... W....

i lobe haters that never played one instrument - i think it's a great album... wont go down in the archives but better than 3/4 of the pop crap out there.... and with October around the corner...perfect Smiths/Springsteen vibe... I paid $9.99 for it and I will buy 10 copies to hand out to compensate for the angry people on here.

  92. J.... N....

    <3 <3 <3

  93. t.... ....

Started off as the Cars' "Tonight She Comes", became Springsteen's " Promised Land". And the whole while a Taylor Swift song. And a Ryan Adams song. Well done.

  94. E.... H....

Sounds like something that should be on The Breakfast Club

  95. T.... C....

I like this cover better than the original!

  96. X.... P....

    Awesome :O
