10cc - Code Of Silence Lyrics
Deep in the night
I can hear you calling my name
How can I try to help you woman
If you go on hiding your pain
Baby, Baby, the tears on your pillow are real
when I see the pain that you feel
A code of silence, is a dreadful thing
It can make you feel harder
It can keep you hanging on a string
Here in the darkness
When I hear you calling my name
A code of silence is a deadly game
It's a deadly game (what's that you say)
It's a deadly game (speak to me now)
Lost in your dreams
Trouble on your face in the pale moonlight
Nowhere to run you've got to let me know
Where you are standing tonight
Baby Baby Baby
I know that you're hurting inside
Open your heart
I know that we can make it
If you talk to me now
A code of silence, is a deadly thing
It can make you feel harder
It can keep you hanging on a string
Here in the darkness
When I hear you calling my name
A code of silence is a deadly game
It's a deadly game (what's that you say)
It's a deadly game (speak to me now)
It's a deadly game (deadly game)....

You used to love this song ? I still and have always loved this song, love everything about it
this is so 10cc. great sound and vocals. one of our very top bands from any era
I love this song recorded with Paul McCartney in the bass, electric guitar and string synthesizer and Eric on vocals, lead guitar and drums. It's on Mirror Mirror. 🙂
Very unique sounding band indeed, extremely underrated in my opinion
A very underestimated titel and brilliant song!
One of the great lost songs of 10CC!
This song and Why Did I Break Your Heart are goose bump city.
Awesome song, with brilliant Eric's guitar and vocals. Love it!
Overlooked song in their catalogue.
best!!!
they were very talented i met them with my 2 brothers outside strawberry studios named that as that was the door colour its still there lol from stockport uk xxx
code of silence. . . ten bb
The guitar riff in this is amazing Mr Stewart Sir.
At the age of 50, 10cc are, to this day, my favorite band. Too bad the first 4 albums were the only ones the whole band contributed to. Listen to them all, they are amazing.
10cc 2,0 featured the pop duo of Gouldman and Stewart. By the time this song was released it was more 10cc 3.0. Gone was the brilliance of Bloody Tourists or Windows in the Jungle of 2.0... but this far from sucks.
!0cc at their worst were better than a lot of crap that passed for pop music in the last 40 years.
Could not agree more
Still my all time fav band, Eric and Graham together were awesome
Nice work, but why in MONO ??
Re-upload in stereo please

Brilliant music and transitions are fantastic
@P78756 Couldn't agree more. The bands that are around now are abysmal.
beautiful
Very Coool Share & Post ! .Love This! ..5*s Thankyou for sharing sunsets...Anita.
All 4 original 10cc band members & Paul MacCartney....thats a wow.
Do NOT agree!!! They were a " team" and each contributed to a very important part in the bands success. Lol was a fabulous witty, smart songwriter, played many instruments and could sing incredibly well too. Kev has a beautiful voice too, and writing was no problem for him either. Both Eric and Graham have songwriting talents and Eric is a God on the guitar. I would have loved to see them all together still, however Lol and Kev had other visions and talents and ambitions. Very talented men!
i agree...they need to all come back and play the four of them ..they got close in 1992 with the meanwhile album which is excellent with godley and creme providing some vocals..
No, i think it was originally written for Press To Play but they didn't put it in the album.
Wikipedia says that it's just Eric. But it says that Yvonnes The One was written with Paul McCartney
- Code Of Silence
Electric Piano – Paul McCartney
Lead Guitar – Eric Stewart

This song has an eerie feel to it, it really does feel like a swan song to this wonderful band. I still like it though, it possesses a certain charm, to be sure.
I like this song. I don't know what you 'critics' are talking about. As far as 10CC goes, they were 4 VERY talented gentlemen who, individually, were about to BURST. They all toned it down and made 4 incredible albums at a time when originality was hard to come by (it still is by the way). Bands are made up of individuals with lives of their own, but my guess is they would ALL like to have been 10CC a while longer. Those were the days, right guys?
Well said!
I sincerely hope you're joking.
Why was 10cc post Godley/Creme so drippy and bland? Didn't Eric and Gouldman realise this stuff wasn't up to par? p.s poor show from McCartney.
Yes, the chords of the song were written by Paul, and he played them on the track, with Bass, Strings, and Electric Piano. The lyrics and other instrumental parts were written sung, and performed by Eric Stewart.
